Need Some Help
I am having to replace my mtx rt2400x amp(I got screwed by mtx) in my 91 civic hatch. All I am powering with it is a single Diamond Audio M3, rated at 250w rms. I need a good quality amp, but not for a ton, no more than $300. What are some recommendations.

you could go to best buy and get a rockford 250.2, 200m, or 300m (all of which are around a $1 a watt). You even can buy a 4 year service plan on the amp for $30 too and then you won't get screwed over again.

JBL bp 1200.1 - $279 great power but may be too much wattage for that driver so you may need it setup carefully...
those RF 300m 250.1 etc are all great too
Alpine has a small monoblock that can also be had for under 300, but I would suggest going with the JBL 600.1 if its considerably cheaper than the 1200

Im running a cheesball amp from ebay for 80 bucks powering my dual 10 fosgate HEs in a sealed box. good solid punchie bass, works great.
I used to be in the name brand amps but not anymore. it think its a waste of money esp if used for the subs.
Also i did some comparison with my freinds phenix gold amp, we ran the speaker wire from the back of his car trunk to my trunk (heheh).
There was a slight difference in sound, but it wasnt a $300 difference. It was maybe a $20 to $50 difference.

I'm looking at either Rockford or Hifonics. Someone told me that Hifonics is now made by Crunch, so it won't be as reliable as it once was. Anyone know anything about this?
Well thats the trend now adays.
I actually have the Crunch blackmaxx, and works great.
Not sure if Hifonics is made by crunch, but someone told me that Fosgate moved their manufacturing plant overseas and their quality isnt as good as before.
I dont know if its true or not.

you never saw the difference because you didnt turn it up, try going to a shy less than 2/3rds on the properly rated amp, and then goto 1/3 on the cheap amp and you'll see the difference.
However, your right about one thing, its definetly not as important to pick a high quality amp for your sub then it would be for your internal speakers, and power is definetly power (although filtering techniques and harmonics produced by higher quality components and higher order filters does make a signal difference) when it comes to a sub.
