Need Help choosing Amp Size
Ok.
I just want to upgrade my stock sounds, I am getting 2 6x9 (300w each) and 2 6 1/2 (200w each) and a small sub (200w).
What kind of Amp do I need. I preffer to have just 1 Amp for all.
Not really sure what to get. And I don't understand much of this 1-4 channel thing. And do I need a capacitor?
Thanks for the help.

ok, first of all, you need better information, just saying your 6x9's are 300w each helps me none, because i'm 99% sure 300w is a MAX rating, what you need to do first of all is look up each speaker/ subwoofer and get the Continuous (RMS) power rating for each. Then the sub, i need to know its RMS power rating too, as well as what voice coil configuration it is. Yes you can get a single amp to accommodate all the speakers in your setup, but choosing one will depend on the questions i have asked you above. More than likely from the sounds of your setup, its gonna be a small 5 ch amp and will not require a capacitator.
he ya go
might actully need a better sub for this amp
its 75 rms to all 4 speakers and 300 to sub

and no you dont need a cap

ok well you still didn't tell me what ohm load the sub was, that matters alot! anyways find a 5ch amp, the mids/highs section needs to be atleast 50-75w rms x4@4ohm stereo and the sub section 100-200w rms@4ohms - i say this because man 5ch amps have a sub section of about 200w-350w rms on average, and some even 1100w rms for the sub section ( memphis belle) but yea, i wouldn't get a bazooka bass tube, they are so OLD and sound like junk to me... i would get like a 10w0 or something if your just wanting something small, but if your dead set on a bass cannon, we need to know the rms, i'm not a fan of bazooka but from memory it THINK they came in svc 4ohm and dvc 4ohm or svc 2ohm..

Is there a specific numbers I have to look for in speakers to have a good bass.
I might have to cancel the bazooka. I just want to have good enough bass but not overwhelming.
Also is it ok to use an AMP that has 75-50 RMS rating for a speaker that has a 100 RMS rating, what are the CONS?
Thanks

they need to see at least 75 watts rms 100 watt would be ideal
if you look at the link i posted that amp will give them 75 each and still have 300 for a sub that should provide a good bump.

Make and model numbers of the speakers and the sub would have been better, but continuous, [RMS] power handling will work.
I agree with 98civdx the Alpine PDX-5 will do the job, and no you do not need to worry about speaker, [sub] impedance as Alpine PDX amps RMS output is the same at 2 or 4 ohms.
With that said I would recommend that you get two amps a 4ch and a mono block sub amp...
This is the 4ch I would recommend... http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1363004...v2.html?tp=115 and then find a 100W-150W mono block sub amp, something like this... http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136G130...00.html?tp=115
There is nothing wrong with the Bazooka tube as long as it is installed properly.
If you are on a budget and Alpine and JL Audio is out of your price range then look at MTX amps, very good bang for the $... http://www.mtx.com/index2.cfm 94

interesting - didn't know that about pdx amps, regulated sub section? but i quit working at an alpine dealer in 05 and i don't think those had yet come out, i've been out of the loop lately..
i agree with fcm. you will see best results with 2 amps but if you only want one the pdx5 will work great.
both amps he posted are great. i have installed them and played with them. and have noithing but positive things to say mtx included.
twentyhurtz- i think they just came out. but the are the smallest amp i have ever seen and make the kind of power they do. just pretty expensive compared to other amps with same output. and as with everything alpine makes quality is fantastic.
