Is my Amplifier busted?
I was in my car, stretched my foot and kicked a wire that goes to my front door speaker (Ive already relocated the wire to a spot my foot cant reach) and I hear a boom and tons of "noise" comes through the speakers drowning out the music.
I checked to see if it was the wiring seems ok
i checked the speakers they all work, still getting a signal
the amps have there green lights on
theres only "noise" coming through the speaker amp not the subs amp
the head unit powers on like normal and works fine
Now when ever I turn it on I hear the same boom (makes the same sound a guitar amp makes when it turns on and off) This sound was not there before.
No fuses blowing, just a bunch of "noise"
Any suggestions? is it my amp, the head unit, speakers, wiring?

humming noise? What kind of amplifier?
Could be a bad rca wire. This can happen if the ground on the RCA goes bad.
Disconnect the RCA. If the sound goes away then the RCA is the problem.
If the sound is still there the ouput stage of your amplifier is blown.

I was thinking the output on the amp was blown, atleast that seems like the common problem...........its the wal mart brand 4 channel amp dont even know its name
Ill try the RCA thing, thanks
humming...... well its a high pitch noise that increases in volume and pitch as I accelerate, its almost like driving a formula 1 car in reverse
and about as annoying too

Sounds like the amp remote circuit. I would check that. If not, I have seen a bad battery give the same symptoms due to lack of capacitance. Are you running an aftermarket deck with the rest of your system?
Pretty good bet that if it was working before you "stretched" [probably shorting out that channel of the amp] and is not working now, even after repairing and rechecking the speaker lead, you toasted your Wal Mart amp.
If it's less then a year old, and you have proof of purchase, Wal Mart will replace it.
If you have no warranty, you will need to buy a new amp, the one you have is not worth more then $10 to repair, including parts.
This time bite the bullet and buy a better amp, something with a basic protection circuit

Agreed, don't buy, or trust wal mart. I worked there when I was a younger and found that they have a market for cheap stuff, from tools, to sports equipment, and even stereos. I have never bought a car stereo from walmart but I did buy a set of golf ***** when I was in a pinch and the first one I hit off of the tee, the outer cover split in half and later that day another one split the same way. Learned my lesson.

Im tackling this project again tomorrow with a new list of ideas..
my main plan is to buy a new amp..... I know a guy who has a PPI... I guess they're good
Im going to test the RCA's and if that doesn't work then Ill swap out the amp...
I think I can fool wal-mart..... Honestly though.. I hate everthing that has to do with that place, Only reason I had it is because it was so cheap. I did actaully get more then a year out of it.
Thanks for the suggestions Ill let you know whats up.

Jibberish....."lack of capacitance" would never cause such a probelm.
Having a bad battery that has a poor ground or positive lead connection could.

My bet the amps fried. I wouldn't even spend the $10 to fix it. It's not worth your time and you wont find anyone that will fix it for $10. I have fixed a few members amps on here for free but wouldn't waste my time with that one. Shipping would cost you more then it's worth.

Well, I had another CD player to try and that fixed the problem. Might have been a bad RCA or something. I also rerouted some wires so the power was seperate. Eliminated all noise. I recently replaced my battery with a new Honda (Interstate) Battery. So it should be ok
I still need to get a better amp. I need a good 4 channel around 400 watts or less. Im going ot keep my eye out for a good deal but if i dont have to spend any money right now thats good.
