mounting depth.
what's up guys. i have a 90 accord ex. which mean i got thoe shitty black boxes that holds the speaker in. anyway. i did modify the box so it will hold the 6.5 in front(some of u know that it only holds the stock ones)
now i need to know what is the mouning depth for our ex cars???
i don't wanna buy speakers and then learn that they are stoping my window from going down.
the speakers that i have my eye on are 2.25 in depth. they are audiobahn 3 way.

Making a mounting baffle out of MDF (wood) will help your mounting depth, it will also help the speaker sound better as wood reproduces sound a lot better than plastic or sheet metal. Not sure about your car but on my teg I have about 3 inch speakers with no problem.
i don't know ..but i have a accord 98 ex v6, and i chopped up that the back of that black crate cradle thing that holds the speaker and i fit in an infinity kappa 63.5i ..its a pretty deep speaker i think 2 3/16" and it fits perfectally fine ..the window goes down ok too

What he said above. Chuck that plastic mounting ring and make one from MDF (can be had at any Home Improvement store). Also to eliminate any small vibrations, get some dynamat and cut some peices to fit between the MDF baffle (to the door) and in between the speaker and baffle. This is what I have done (as well as dynamat the whole door) and there are no obscure sounds from my speakers at all!
