Default Minidisc

Anyone know any model numbers to Minidisc decks? I'm afraid mine will break in a little while. I did see a nice double din one in an Option magazine. Do you think the wiring would be the same if I got one from Japan? Wondering if anyone knew that or any current models here in the US.

I still have my MDX-400 Love it and probably never get rid of it. I think it's one of the best decks Sony has come out with. You can find them on ebay every once in a while. I haven't paid much attention to the new ones. Wouldn't mind checking some out myself.

Here are the current US models are their list prices:

Sony MDX-CA680X $379.99
Kenwood KMD-X92 $600
Kenwood KMD-D400 $400 (in-dash changer only)
Kenwood KMD-44 $300

Here's a link to a distributor I found that imports Japanese units. If you go with
one of these units, you'll need a tuner converter. Japanese units cover a different frequency range. I believe the converter is inlcuded in the price. http://www.andale.com/stores/sf_home...=themeltingpot
I have never ordered from this company so I can't vouch for their credibility so proceed at your own risk!

Forgot to add......the wiring should be the same. Just like anything else, verify your connections with a digital volt-meter.

With the Japanese model you might not be able to get any radio stations because I believe they use different frequencies.

This company addresses that issue. They supposedly give you a converter that will allow the tuner to pickup US frequencies.
