Location to mount an amp inside the cabin?
anybody have any good ideas to place an amp inside the cabin? My trunk is completly stripped but my amp supplies the power to my HU and speakers. Trying to look for a clean spot thats out of the way
That basically leaves you with under the passenger seat, where there is limited room. What kind of car do you have?

it's also a good spot, if the amp will fit, close to the HU close to the batt., seat mounting bolts make good grounds, and very close to the amp, and on a lot of cars if you need more clearance you can install spacers under the rear mounts, [I have used 1" ones]

^^Agreed, there are several advantages to mounting under the seat, one of which is the ease of making a very short ground wire. I have mine grounded to the mound under the seat and the grounding point is about 3"-4" away from the terminal.
Also you can run 6' RCA cables (down the center console), and the only wires going to the trunk are the rear speaker or sub wires. And, when the seat is slid back, the amp is totally invisible.
But you have to choose a very thin amp if you don't want to lift up the seat. I have an Eclipse EA3422 because it's 1.97" thick, although apparently fcm has encountered build quality issues with these...

yeah ive thought about under the seats, but what makes me worried is during winter where ppl get in and out with snow on their shoes. Maybe i can make some sort of tray for it or something
by the way i drive a 95 civic sedan...and im running a fairly small alpine amp

The Alpine should fit between the seat mounting cross braces.
This is what I do.... check and make sure amp will fit, and seat moves freely, remove the seat, set amp between braces, make sure it's in the right spot, mark the carpet to the width of the amp, cut carpet on each side of amp, from front of car to back, between seat mounting cross braces, then cut along front brace, this should leave you with a "flap" that you can fold under the carpet behind the seat, or even roll up, [under itself] mount the front of the amp to the cross brace using "L" or "Z" brackets keeping the amp just off the floor, and no screws through the floor pan, mount the back of the amp to a small block of wood on one side, 1" x 1" x whatever height you need to keep the amp just off the floor, then glue the block to the floor using sub floor adhesive.
In the winter you can unroll/unfold the carpet and let it lay over the amp so somebody with snow all over their boots sitting in the back seat is not going to get the amp wet, and if the amp is mounted off the floor any water on the floor is not going to get into the amp, I have lots of amps mounted like that with no problems, and Kelowna gets a chit load of snow.
