Kill switch wired to radio remote wire help
Ive been looking around the web n seen a couple ways a fuel pump kill can be wired , n seen a couple ppl mention wiring it to the radio n when the faceplate is removed the cars fuel will be killed .... but I haven't seen a thread describing how to do it, So I was wondering If I can get some help here!? ..
I was planning on running an alternative switch also from the fuel pump?
Also I seen ppl mention a kill from the ecu that would be more affective but i couldn't find much detail on that, If it's possible i wouldnt mind running the radio idea from there!!??
Any help would help thank you

The radio remote wire sends +12v when the radio is on. You'd just need to remember not to remove the faceplate when the car is on.
Find a relay that is open by default, closes when 12v is applied. Ground the one actuator post, and put your radio remote wire to the + actuator post, take the fuel pump + wire and splice the relay into it. Presto.

just so you are aware when them thieves see the wire has been changed on the fuel pump, they most likely will rewire it back up, just a heads up, but yes this is a good measure and will def slow them down. i just dont want you thinking "wait how they start my car" when you have the head unit faceplate in your hand
Just be careful... if either fuse for the radio happens to blow or the radio takes a dump, you'll be stuck (or shut off while driving). Also, depending on the radio there may be a power antenna and a remote turn on wire.. make sure you tag the remote turn on or if you switch to CD/iPod/aux you'll power down the fuel pump
Thanks guys I appericate the info , im going to start this today, but the radio is a Sony flip out idk if that help anything But what are the chances that it culd blow the radio? Shuld I upgrade to a bigger fuse?
Yea this isn't my only security measure , I kno it wont stop thieves but anything to keep them there longer!!

If wired correctly, it should definitely not blow the radio...
If you wire it poorly and the rem wire touches ground, you MIGHT blow a fuse but I highly doubt it.

Joeshmo could u do me a favor..,culd u show me a pic of the relay u were referring too, I wasnt sure which one to grab at radioshack
A SPDT or SPST relay will work, a standard "automotive" SPDT relay can be found at any car parts/car audio/security store, the SPDT relay has 5 terminals...

#86 to ground
#85 from amp remote lead from HU.
#30 and #87 for fuel pump power lead, cut lead and connect cut ends to the two terminals.
#87a is not used. 94

Okay im having a problem.I wired everything up , the relay id clicking as if its getting power but the pump isn't running
you should ditch putting a kill switch on the fuel pump and wire a kill switch into your ignition column wires, wire in a kill switch on the main 12v or main IGN wire but tap into the wire somewhere down the line not exactly at the column so if someone peals back the column they don't notice the switch wiring. then you could mount the switch anywhere in the car, in a manual you can hide it under the shift boot material, rocker switch would be perfect. Too many risks involved with wiring in to your fuel pump using remote turn on wire. just my thoughts on the issue.
Thanks bro , I wuldnt mind do that later on for extra security , but I wuld reallt like to finish this im using a spst relay
Try this, do not turn on the radio, try and start the car, if it starts you have a NC relay and it will not work, you need a relay that "closes" when energized so a SPDT or a SPST with an 87 terminal. 94
Thanks in going to try advance auto to see f they have one , b cus u are right its a NC n radioshack doesn't dnt have them thank u
other than if the circuit goes on this or pops a fuse his fuel pump shuts off...or if someone takes off the faceplate. Might be just me but I wouldn't want my fuel pump turning off if something goes wrong with the radio circuit. Just as easy to wire in a kill switch to the fuel pump using another (safer) switched source other than radio turn on... IGN or ACC. just my thoughts. to each his own.
