my head unit (kenwood dnx570hd) has been going into dc offset and protect mode lately, it's not constant... just sometimes.
it never used to do that when i first got it, but i'm not thinking it's the head unit... maybe the sub amp, wiring etc... however, i want to be sure before i replace anything.
i used to have my sub hooked up to my single din pioneer with no problems, but after almost a month of it hooked up onto my new head unit, it's been popping up dc offset and protect mode until i shut off my car and turn it back on. the first time it stopped playing the music and the bass was fading away slowly... then i found out that the rca cable snapped into my headunit... POS. got it from sound image telling me that it was recommended... couldn't wait, no brand name... yes, now i'm a big believer of "do it right the first time, then you won't have to worry". anyways... extracted the pieces and still had the remote wire wired. so a little bass in the speakers. then after 2 weeks of driving... the dc offset and protect mode popped up again! D;
i am running off generic wiring! supposed to be 8 gauge and not true to gauge it all. it's like the cheap flea market kits. the remote wire LITERALLY has 4 strands of weak wire coming out of it with flexible tube encasing... you can pull it a little... it stretches and breaks... i got annoyed and pulled the rcas... since it broke... no surprise... 4-6 brittle strands...
can it be my wire kit? or amp?
i have 1 12 jl audio i believe it's the w0 model. old school. an off brand audiotek super sport 2000 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-AT2000.1.html i don't know how old it is.
any ideas why it's doing that?
(excuse the mess in my car)

Replace the power lead with real 8ga. move the ground to the floor pan of the car, add an 8ga ground from the batt. to the firewall or frame rail of the car.
Use an ANL fuse with the inexpensive stud type fuse holder.
Need to know exactly the model of the sub, [ single or duel V/C and impedance].
That amp is about 250W RMS into 4 ohms so if the sub is a 12W0 then wattage should be good. [75-300 continuous]. 94

12w0 jl audio. Just a single.
I had someone tell me the dc offset is caused by speaker wires grounding? But my wiring seems. Just my power lead etc... for the amp kit seems weak
