Default JL Audio components with different X-Overs?

hello, my friend just gave me some component speakers without the crossovers. he crashed his car, and his father didnt salvage the x-overs. the model is VR650-CWI

i couldnt find the specs anywhere. so i was wondering, i know its bad, but could i just used crossovers from other similar JL models? or other companies?

I KNOW ITS NOT RECOMMENDED... but I'm at my last resort.

what do you guys recommend?

Yeah you could go active with those speakers, its gonna cost quite a bit to do so, and honestly, I wouldn't spend the money going active on that set, vs. just buying a new set of speakers.

I tried searching for just those vr crossovers, no luck, but I did find some crossovers on ebay for the xr line. I don't know the exact crossover specs, they aren't published anywhere, but Id be willing to bet the HPF and LPF as well as the slopes btwn the two lines are very similar, I don't think it would hurt to run the xr crossovers with the vr speakers.

You could always sell the vr midbass set, and the vr tweeter set, and end up with enough money, or pretty close to enough, just to buy another complete set of 2-way comonents.

The jl manual sucks since it doesn't list where they're crossed @ or the slopes.

Call up jl audio and find out. After that, look on parts express..you should be able to find a 2 way crossover that works.
