Both the pioneer and the alpine ipod interfaces will be better this year. They made a few updates to the software to make them flow even smoother and easier than before. It is still not a fully direct connection though. Alpine uses a single cable(no more bulky box thing) and I havent seen Pioneer's yet, but probably gonna be the same idea. The new cables will work with the new decks and the old cables will work with the old decks, they will not be interchangable because they use different software to read from the ipod. The CDA-9857 will be a nice deck and I myself have already presold a few of them. The new ipod connectors will be better and in my personal opinion, you should have waited.

Does anyone know when the alpine cda-9857 is going to come out? The website says March but I have to see anyone carry it.

Alpines new lines start showing up at stores around mid March and all the new line is in, [at our stores anyway] by mid April. 94
