Default Integra stereo harness ?

I bought this harness from a stereo shop, but I don't think it's the right one. It physically plugs in.

Looking at this DIAGRAM, the wires don't match up. But I'm not too familiar with stereo systems. The harness I bought is from Schosche number 70-1720 and it says it's for any Honda 86-03.

Or am I wiring this thing up wrong? This is how I have it wired up to a 71-1721 (trying to install an S2000 radio)

The harness adapter is miswired or it is the "universal" harness adapter, it is not a 70-1720, take it back to the shop and get the proper one.

BTW a 70-1720 would be a Metra 1986-1997/98 Honda/Acura adapter harness, [will also fit later model Integra] the Scosche harness would be the HA02B... http://scosche.com/products/sf...D/295

This may help... http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.pdf 94

Thanks. Actually, saw that link from another thread, which was posted by you. Anyway, I did go back to the stereo shop and they did give me the wrong kind. So I had to solder up all of those wires again. But in the end, it was cake. Just plug and play. Thanks again.

Thanks. One thing I noticed tonight, though. When I turn on my lights, the LCD darkens and the buttons don't light up. I'm pretty sure I hooked up the orange wire to orange wire. What else could be the problem? I am going to take it apart tomorrow, but just wanted to see if anyone had inputs. Thanks.

Your stock Integra radio harness does not have the illumination ground lead, [red] only the illumination power lead, [red/black], it is the orange lead on the adapters and the only one supplied on most adapters.

If the 71-1721 harness did not have any "extra" leads that you could not connect to the 70-1720 harness then one of the unpinned spots, [E,F or G] is the illumination ground, sorry I do not know which one it is.

Easiest way is to look at a stock harness from a 99 up Honda/Acura to see which pin is the red/black, maybe someone here can help, [take a pix] or just go to a pick&pull and look for yourself, DO NOT guess, you can do damage grounding the wrong pin.

Once you have the right pin location you can ground that lead to chassis or run it to the "Dash Light Brightness Controller" and connect it to the red/black there.

As a matter of fact I am going to the local pick&pull today for some seat belts for my 89 Dynasty, I will have a look. 94.

Yeah, if you could do that, that'd be awesome! I did have one from 71-1721 that was not used (orange/white wire noted to be the "dimmer" lead).

Thanks for your help.

The orange/white is the illumination ground, if it is right below/above the orange, the orange should be right next to the yellow and the orange/white should be right next to the black.
Test by grounding the orange/white, if button lights come on you can leave it grounded or connect it to the red at the "DLBC". 94

Thanks, I'll try that. Also, could I just splice it to the black wire?

EDIT: fsm - I actually had the wires backwards. The wire next to the black wire was orange/white. And the only wire left over from the 70-1720 was orange/white, so I thought those went together. But I connected the orange from 71-1721 to the orange/white and it works now. No need to ground it?

You could, any ground will work, but unless you go to the red at the "DLBC" they will not adjust with the rest of the dash lights. 94

Edited my last post without refreshing the page, so didn't see your response.

And I''m ignorant--what is DLBC? And you are absolutely right. My deck does not dim with the rest of the interior lights with the dimmer.

DLBC= "Dash Light Brightness Controller" sometimes called a dimmer.

Have you tried grounding the orange/white lead?

Only the button lights would dim along with the dash lights once wired. 94
