How do i wire up a kill switch?
I want to wire a kill switch into my car and i was just wondering wat exactly to do?
Do i just cut the ignition wire then wire it up to a switch that allows me to switch it on and off or does it take more than that? Thanks

for a simple kill switch you need to buy an automotive relay, available at an auto parts store. it needs to be 30 amp rated and would be better if it were a SPDT (single pull double throw)

that link has diagrams of basic starter kills, for your application use a switch or button to send ground instead of the (-)negative alarm input.
pretty much a "kill switch" is only going to stop the key from cranking the car and is not very effective in stopping thieves. You could try a relay to keep your fuel pump from turning on, or to keep your car's ECU shut off. there are many way to do this and it can really F up your car if anythings done wrong. my reccomendation is to pay the $ and have a car stereo place put an alarm in.
oh.. and if you settle on a switch to interupt the ignition wire, make sure its the same gauge as the ignition wire itself otherwise it will melt and catch on fire

My thoughts exactly. if you need to ask how to do this then i dont think it is for you. it just takes one wrong wire cut to screw it up. Yet, if just a basic alarm is put on, its really easy to bypass for people who know what you are doing. getting layered security is where its at but costs more

Stay away from the ignition wire. First of all, they're going to find it. Secondly, it's a high current wire so **** gets complicated. Try your fuel pump wire instead. If you don't extend the wire more than a couple feet, and use 16 or 18 gauge wire, then you can get away with just using a 25amp automotive switch.
Alternatively, you could do the same thing on your clutch or neutral safety wire.
