It is intalled correctly and it does function as in it goes off when it is supposed to but it just seems week. The battery was brand new still sealed when I bought it. Is there a way to charge it?

It charges via the backup battery module in the picture, which is fed off of the +12v feed from the car.

You could disconnect the battery and double check what voltage it's putting out using a DMM. It could be a bad ground as well

Ok I will have to check the ground. I actually soldered it into the ground for the alarm but i will double check the soldering work.

Are these batteries comparable in size to the 520? Does this sound like I need to replace the battery versus a wiring issue?

Sounds to me the 520T battery is weak or on it's way out or your battery is weak.

These batteries are a little bit bigger, but with the size comes more power and amps/hour.

this thread has now been added as a sticky as the 520t's battery is unfortunately not the best option. the 1.3Ah has worked out pretty well for me so far, the alarm still responds to the remote and the sirens arent as adversely affected as they were with original battery.

Also to add. Do not let these batteries sit no more then a couple hours and no more then a day in a countious discharge state. It will mess up the battery. Keep them charged up. If your going to work on your car try to get the job done in a couple of hours. If the car battery is going to be unpluged. If your going on vacation use a battery tender to keep the main car battery and back up battery charged. Remember. When the alarm is not armed. Its still drawing power. And if the car battery is unpluged or low it will draw the power from the back up battery.

Also test your back up battery every 30 days or so to make sure its working. I can not stress this enough.

Just received my 1.3AH 12volt battery and it will go into my vehicle this weekend. It's actually smaller than I thought:

I wonder if there is a way to buy the clear back-up battery module without the battery.
That way you can bypass the purchase of the crappy battery and go ahead and invest in a good battery.

**Also, I put the new battery on the charger and it charged less than 2 minutes @ .06 amps. That tells me it was already charged.

With a shot gun!!

The 520T sucks and always has. They are basically ripping off their customers with this battery. Your best bet is to toss it and replace it with a better quality battery.

**UPDATE**
I have installed the battery today since the weather will be yucky this weekend. Works like a charm. The siren sounds as if it is operating on the cars main battery.

I just received my 520t from amazon today. I tested the battery with a multimeter right out of the box and it read 12.75v. I hope the battery is good but reading from your guys experience that probably won't happen.

They should just print out a picture of the battery and place it in the box it would be just as useful and far less damaging to the environment.

I just installed the 520t with the original battery and it works great! I anticipated the battery to be faulty, like many of the members here but right out of the box with no charging there was no weakness or struggle when I unplugged the main battery, but then again my parking lights aren't powered by the backup battery.

Have you ever tested to make sure the battery is being charged while the car is running - DMM test?
