Default Help on tweeters

Hello, please forgive me for asking this noob question. I own a 2004 Civic EX with stock tweeters beside the door mirror. I'm looking to replace them both with after market tweeters and need help looking for some high range frequency. I want to achieved something that would probably hurts my ears if you know what I mean. I listen to trance music most of the time when I get in the car, and I'm not sure which tweeters would fit my needs. Another question is can the tweeters hook up to an amp? Regardless I'm not looking for an amp at the moment. I'm pretty short on budget so tweeters anywhere less than $200 would be fine. Thanks for reading am looking forward to your answer.

Your biggest issue is going to be finding a set that will fit with little or no modification and perform any better then stock without an amp. You'd be better buying a component set which comes with woofer, tweeter and passive crossover that should be amp'd. I wouldn't just buy tweeters in hopes of better or louder sound. I would look for a good Class A/B amplifier and good quality component set.

You're right! Thanks for the advice. Component would be better than just getting the tweeters.

Hehehe. I was on a tight budget today. I ran to the shop and got a cheap pair of alpine type S component. Got the mid range on the door panel and place the tweeters beside my mirror. It does sounds pretty nice without an amp though. I think I just made a bad decision.

I might upgrade it later on anyway.

Can I keep my current speakers (alpine type S component) on the door panel and just replace the tweeters beside the mirror with the selenium horns amped, or do I have to replace everything?

When you say "selenium horns amped" do you mean it must be hook to an amp or is that the name for it?

YOU CAN PROBABLY USE THEM WITHOUT AN AMP OR JUST RUNNING OFF THE HEADUNIT BUT IF YOU AMP THEM GUARANTEED THEY SHUT UP MOST PEOPLES TWEETERS.
