Default HELP! Speaker hum ... ground checked.

There's static noise coming from my speakers whenever my deck is turned on. Setup is as follows:

Deck is an Eclipse 5341.

Front and rear speakers are powered by HU.

Deck is mounted in a DIN cage in a 1990 CRX.

Back of the deck is secured by an L-shaped metal bracket with metal bolts connecting the back of the deck and the chassis.

Originally grounded using harness.

Tried grounding directly to metal car chassis with paint removed -> still static.

It's a very quiet static that's there whether or not the motor is running. It does seem to get louder with engine RPM though (louder, not pitch). Noise is there with CD or radio. NO AMP.

Here's a couple other notes:

1. Does not matter if antenna is connected.

2. Does not matter if HU is in or out of the dash.

3. Tried grounding HU chassis directly, still no difference.

At first I was thinking it was a common ground problem ... what else could it be?

I would say you have something wrong with the HU itself, maybe a cap. in the power supply is bad, as "static" is there w/o motor running but does get louder when motor is running. if you can, plug in another HU and see if "static" is still there. 94

You might be right, I plugged in a stock Acura unit from a 2000 Integra GSR and there was absoloutely no static.

Now my question is ... if it's a capacitor in the power supply, how much might it be to it fixed? And if I were to use an amp and the RCA outputs, would the static still be there?
