Help with a avital system
Hey guys i just bought a car and it has a security/remote start (dunno which one). Any ideas as to how i could find out what type it is?
I know for sure it is DEI Avital, but not sure of model number or anything so i can get a new remote for it.
It also has a switch wired into it but i flip the switch to the on off position and nothing happens. I was thinking it was a kill switch of some kind but the car still starts up.
I also believe that it is an alarm system rather than just a remote start because it has a cable from under the dash and through the door jam to the engine bay area, but then I lose it under the head lights. I think that is where they put the alarm horn.
Any help is greatly appreciated : P

I think Avital falls under the Clifford alarm family made by DEI. Go to the DEI website and click on the Clifford section and this will bring you to the different models of alarms they have. You can also order additional remotes if you need them directly from DEI.
After searching through there website and replacement remote store i found that the remote i have right now is this https://www.directedstore.com/cgi-bi...tion&key=23361 But that remote goes with a completely different system that what the box i found is. I found a avital interface but the remote i have goes to and autocommand system. Are they compatible?
maybe, are you sure the system you have is avital? i know the clifford remotes are compatible with a number of alarm system within that family. perhaps you can call a local installer to ask or dei directly or try posting some pics here for someone to identify.
Here is a picture of the interface box. It says avital right on the box. my remote is exactly like the one i linked earlier, only the buttons are worn. I am going to have to call them directly but on monday.
