Default Front speaker depth

Anybody know the max mounting depth for the front speakers of a 2000 sedan, I know they are 6 1/2" but I'm not sure of the correct depth so I don't buy something that don't fit. Thanks in advance guys.

Default Re: Front speaker depth

The speaker is a "standard" 6.5", not to be confused with the over-sized 6.5".

The two main differences are, a standard 6.5" uses a 3 hole mounting system, the over-sized 6.5" uses a 4 hole mounting system, the other main diff, is mounting hole diameter the standard is 5" the over-sized is more then 5" and will depend on brand and model.

The stock mounting depth is a hair under 2", cutting a hole in the back of the panel for the speaker magnet will get you at least another .5", or more depending on magnet diameter, a spacer can also be used to add another .5" or more to the stock mounting depth, it will depend on "hight" of speaker, [how "tall"tweeter is]. 94
