are the factory wires too thin?
I am putting components on my 99 civic ex 4dr. i am wondering if the factory wires are too thin to hook a 50wx2 amp through those wires, i am running the amp to the crossover and then run the woofercone output to the audio harness that would run through the factory wires to the front doors and then just run the tweeter with a different wire. is it safe to do that? or do i need to rewire? if i need to rewire how would i do that? it seems impossible to run a new wire through the doors through the factory hole. any info would be helpful.

Do you know how to get a direct wire from teh amp to the doors in a CLEAN fashion?
I'm not talking about opening the door and seeing the wire there either.
Maybe it is my honda, but short of taking the door off, I can';t get a wire in that factory tubing.

Head to Home Depot or Lowes and get some of the super big white Tie Straps. You can run those through the door boot and tape your speaker wire to it, then just pull the wire through. Those tie straps also come are also very handy getting wire through all kinds of tight spots.

That's a nice tip!
Hey imadigitalgod, if you're already taking the time to run a separate wire for your tweets, why don't you go ahead and run and good quality wire also for the mid woofer? It's worth the extra work. Besides, there's always room for extra wires through those molex plugs...

well, if your doors are anything like an 01 itr, there is no way to get any wire through the factory tubing or connector. The reason being is, instead of wires being ran throught the door, it seems that honda ran the wires to the door, used a male to femal clip, and then into the actual door. I used factory wiring, and hit my wires behind my deck, and ran 4 wires back to my amp for my interiors. It sounds great. A person could not tell the difference, but a computer sure can.
