Electrical Problem - Motor dies
I have a 97 Prelude that I turboed and did the wiring for all the gauges. Randomly when I am driving around the motor will just die, all other electrical powered devices are still on (lights, stereo, gauges, ect.). It happens sometimes when I first try to start it as well. When I go to start it back up sometimes it will fire up fine, but most of the time it will crank and die right away. I have to try a few times to get it to run and sometimes it doesn't even run. I am pretty sure it is an electrical issue and I am going to check my wiring, but does anyone have any ideas? What should I check for possible causes?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Your sure it is not a fuel issue, the PGM-FI Main Relay is a common problem on older Honda/Acura, and start out very intermittently and gets progressively worse...

Can you hear the fuel pump prime the fuel system when your having problems starting the car?
Each time the ign. switch is turned to run the fuel pump will run for a few sec. then turn off, listen for that next time there is a problem. 94

Yes, I can hear the fuel pump prime before starting my car. I have a wideband so I wait a few seconds for it to warm up before cranking it. I can hear it prime every time I start my car.
I also can hear the fuel pump while idling and its kinda loud although I just assumed that was because it was a 255lph fuel pump.
I really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Then the first thing I would look for is ign. power at the distributor assembly, [probably a black/yellow], easiest way is to install a telltale, connect a test light, [or any 12V light] to the distributors power lead, [run into car], when engine quits, is light on or off?
If on, problem is after ign. input to distributor, [coil/ICM/sensors/electrical connections].
If off, problem is before distributor and because you maintain ign. circuit, [gauges] problem must be after ign. switch, [also a problem on older Honda/Acura].
I would check fuses, because problem is intermittent, I would replace, [with new] any related fuse, it may look good, even test good, but a fuse can be damaged, [fuse filament broken at one of the fuse legs is most common] and look good without a magnifying glass. 94
