Default Double DIN Cage

Im installing a 1DIN radio and a 1DIN gauge bezel in my 2000 Integra. It does not have space for a full 2 DIN but I am cutting out the ashtray below to make room for a full 2 DIN. The problem Im running into is finding someone, anyone who makes a double DIN cage. Since it is not made to accominidate 2DIN it does not have any brackets on the side to mount anything to. Ive been to Crutchfield and Scosche and they dont have what I need. They sell double DIN installation kits with the front bezel but not a cage to mount both DIN devices too. I though you guys would be able to help me out.

I know of no double din "cage", we make our own custom brackets when we install double din units in most Honda/Acuras, the 2000 Teg has a double din opening, we have installed more then a few double din HU or 2 din units in Integras without having to cut anything. 94

OIC, the stock HU, if you measure the face trim of the OEM HU you will see it is a little bigger then a standard din, the case of the OEM HU it is the same size as the cage for a standard aftermarket HU, [a little bigger then the case of an aftermarket HU.
Gee I wonder how we got all those double din HU into Tegs?

That looks awesome. Thanks!

Does anybody know the exact height of 1 DIN? If the OEM HU is taller than 1 DIN then maybe its an excuse to go buy an aftermarket HU.

I don't know how well a double din cage would hold two separate single din units (especially if the OEM HU is a little bigger than din sized)... it seems like it would be easier just to keep the OEM HU in there with its iso mount and make a mounting bracket for the gauges out of backstrap or something..

The OEM HU doesnt really have a mount. It has two tiny bolts in the back but the bulk of the weight is merely supported from below by a pocket that rests on the plastic support that you can see in the bottom of the picture. Theres nothing supporting it from the sides.

I had to remove the pocket to make room for the gauges, which leaves the radio unsupported. And its still not enough room for the gauge bezel. I def dont want to cut that bottom plastic support out then nothing will be supported, unless I have a cage.

The gauge bezel can't be support from the back as they aren't very deep. Maybe 2" deep at the most. Thats why I think a 2DIN cage would be the best way to mount everything. Do you guys agree?

Im probably going to swap head units with my daily driver which has an aftermarket unit. Its about 1/8" shorter and will give me a little more clearance.

Stop by a stereo shop and ask to look at a Metra kit, 99-7801. It's designed to mount double-din or two single din radios in your car. They shouldn't charge more than 25 bucks (worst case) for the kit. I don't have pics but here is the instruction manual, might help some....
