Default DIY Subwoofer box

would it be cheaper to make one or buy one?

I just got 2 10in JBLs but I only want one due to lack of space in my trunk(bb6 prelude).

Are there any good write ups around?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make a fiberglass one. It is very easy, and you can probably make it so you can still have a trunk with both of the subs.

it is definately cheaper to build one; however, speakerbox building isnt just making a box and cutting holes in it. the best way to make a great speaker sound like @$$ is to have a poor box. If you know what you are doing, i would definately say do it yourself. I made my last box for dirt cheap. I think from start to carpeted, the entire project was maybe $25-30. have a look online, there are some dimension calculators to help design the box to fit your car and the subs.

height x with x depth divided by 1728 will get the cubic ft and then check if it is what the manufacture calls for the sub. Measure the area that you would like to have the enclosure in and do the calculation.

If you decided to build a fiber glass box just fallow the spare tire write up pretty much same concept if you would like it on the quarter panel.
