Default Code Alarm 4100 removal

I'm thinking of installing a new alarm but wanted to check if there is anything I need to do first to remove this old one?

My remote doesn't work anymore and places want 50 bucks for one. I figure I might as well upgrade the alarm. Should I leave it in place till I get the new one so I can use the same wires they spliced into?

Remove the old alarm compleatly, do not use any of it's wiring, you can reconnect to the same places, [depending on how and where they where made. 94

Yea, I won't use their wiring. But I'm thinking it should help me identify locations of doorlocks, etc when I tap into them.
