---this is in the eclipse not the R---

i was installing a clarion db315 in my 1g yesterday, i hook up everything right and the deck doesnt power on! Whats the problem? Its not the fuse on the deck or the fuse on the car, if i put in the stock deck it works fine but when i put in the clarion db315 it doesnt power on. Does it have something to do with the small plug that looks like the antenna connection (im guessing its ground)? cause i notice when u hook up the stock deck it doesnt power either until u plug it in. Theres no plug for it on the clarion db315 but when i touch it to the deck it still doesnt power on.... anybody know what the problem is???

 

Man, I'd love to help. If I could see it, I guarantee I could fix it in minutes. Unfortunately, I can't picture the problem from what you're saying. I'll do some thinking, and if I get anything, I'll post it. Good luck!

u need to ground the wire from the clarion if i recall correctly from my previous install experience..there is no ground in the mitsu harness..this should solve ur problem...let me know how it goes...

Find a screw on the chassis of the HU and wire that to a ground. The antenna lead also grounds the unit if you connect it, but tends to introduce ground noise.

I had the same problem on a Mazda.

 

the antena has to be pluged in for it turn on. if u touched the antenna to the chasis while the radio was on, you most likely fried that radio.

 

Just to let you know you have to hook up the ground wire of the clarion deck to ground on the chassis somewhere. Mitsu did not have a ground wire in the factory harnesses.

And remember: Always make the ground first.
