Budget Systems
I was just wondering what you guys are putting in your cars as far as inexpensive systems go. I'm talking >$1000.
So here's what I'm rocking
HU: Alpine cda-7894
Amp: Pheonix Gold XS4600
6.5/component: Infinity Reference Series
6x9:Boston RX97
Sub: 10in Kicker CVR
I'm into this about ~$600 with the whole car wired in monster cable.
What do you have for under a G?

hell one of my amp is that price, I guess I am out. But I did a budget system before. It was all mtx with there entry level line. 2-10's 4500, 1 componet set, 1 61/2. 1 four channel amp, entry level pioneer. 985 total
I realize that nice **** can cost a grip, but in all reality is not needed. If my systems going into a car that can be broken into with 2 game tokens and a wood chip, im not gonna leave that laying around. Anybody else getting by with the bottom of the barrel.
I really like this alpine cda-7894 deck. Time correction on it is not bad at all, and was a steal @ $140
It makes me wanna go by one of their brand new ones.

Alpine 9833, Alpine MRV-435 4 channel amp driving pioneers and kenwood components, 16-guage wired to all speakers, 1 12" RF P3 driven by p3001 mono.
cumulative build, all parts bought when they were new. just over 1000
all parts are hidden except for the HU.
i love it

Thanks for the post, how do you like alpine amp?
The one thing I need to complete my setup is a mono amp so I can hookup the rear 6x9's again. Anybody got a recomendation for a mono amp 400w rms @ 2 ohm, and if it exists (which I doubt) a mono amp 400w rms @ 8 ohms.

the new alpine amps are the sex. and i believe you can stack them for the desired power output you need.
personally i dont think you should have to drive your rears off a seperate amp if you are running a sub.

I save money by eliminating the rear speakers. They don't do anything except confuse the sound. With a good set of components up front, you don't need them.
The high-end Pioneers are so much better than the high-end Alpine's right now (High end meaning the best of what a chain store carries for less than $400). On the Pioneer, you can adjust the crossover independently front and rear. Time correction is better (I don't fully understand the TC in the new Alpines), menus are so much cleaner and easier to navigate.
I'm looking for a decent/cheap/small sub and amp to put in my friend's WRX wagon. It has to be something I can get with my best buy discount. I just dropped some Infinity reference components in the fronts a few minutes ago, dynamat, 1/2 spacers. Came out real clean.

wrx-killer-eaterer- How did you like the mtx setup, I have heard a few systems w/ mtx stuff, and have not been impressed at all(could be installed or tuned wrong).</TD></TR></TABLE>
It depends on what series that you heard. And if it was installed right. I doing to set up right not with mtx. One of my cars is going to have the high-end and the other the entry level. Set up right the sound is off the chart. I am really happy being a dealer for them.

That is one good HU you have(OP) just wire it directly to the battery for the 12v. You'll have a decent enough power range for rear speakers or coax's all around.
