Default blown door speaker

bought the car used and had an aftermarket head unit also the door speakers which are 5 1/4" aftermarket also. the whole setup is pioneer headunit and speakers. do you think the speakers were blown from under/over power or what? and also how would stock civic speakers hold up with the pioneer deck? the desck is rated at about 55w x4 peak so about 20w rms.

The deck is at 55w Max watts per channel. It's RMS watts is probably around 22 watts per channel. The stock civic speakers would hold up fine with the pioneer deck. No idea how the speakers could have blown with just the aftermarket deck.

Maybe, by any chance he was running a sub to the door speaker and blew em? (Just stating the obvious)

more than likely the speaker blew up from distortion
playing it louder than it can handle

-- if a speaker is making unatural sound it is time to turn it down!!

no matter the power (surplus or lack of) if a speaker see too much distortion
over a course of time it will eventually **** the bed.....

the stock speakers will work fine, they wont be any sound quality extraodinares
but they will work fine
