Is it better to fire the sub side-ways, forward or back?
See car info in sig.
I was wondering if firing the sub backwards towards the trunk opening is a bad idea? Or is it better to put it on the right side in the cut-out? Firing it forward doesn't seem like an option for me because I don't want to eat up the first couple of feet of trunk. Any thoughts from people that have experimented?

unless you mean you want the space behind the seat open (which is silly if your box is big because you have less clearance and rear deck speakers there)..
I would just say fire them forward with enough space for the excursion (amount the cone of the sub moves back and fourth) plus say an inch ..
Why? because then, if your seat ever opens, you have a more direct way line of sound, and it looks good... also, its the only way Ive ever noticed a real direction of firing ... when I was in the same air space with the sub.. even then.. minimal...
MORE IMPORTANTLY... firing it forward with it by the seat saves you money for a sub grill... because nothing will hit it, only the side of the box and back (protect the wires though... wherever they are...

I also have a 4-door but mine is a 2000 LX...
I have my w7 firing towards the back of the car but the box is pushed up as much against the seat as possible...
try this, when you have no one in your back seats, bring the back of the seats down and push the box as far toward the front of the car as possible without sitting the box on the seat BUT still keeping it facing toward the back...
