Best Deck For Your Ipod?
Just wondering what your guys' opinion on the best deck to listen to your ipod with. I was thinking of going with the alpine ida-x001 but I haven't heard anything about it's sound quality. Also, you can't listen to cd's with it.

Its sound quality is excellent. Its mainly designed for the future-media on hard drives-with ipods having 80+ gig capacity who needs discs. It was geared toward that type of user-hell many of my customers have a min of 2 ipods. If the trend continues you may see cd radios going the way of the 8 track in the next 5 years.
My vote is for any 2nd gen alpine unit (ipod full speed) that can support ipod use. I'm not a fan boy -just liked how they got apple's blessing in the design phase.

I'm willing to spend $500 on the deck. It's just that if I'm going to spend $500 on it the sound better be good yanno?
So that model is good to go then? I've read some reviews about it's interface being a little slow with scrolling (tried it myself at best buy)

^Nah, I think the differences between same brand models at higher points become more on features as opposed to SQ, like usb, bluetooth, hdradio, etc. Like a $100 jensen vs like a $300 pioneer would probably show a tremendous difference in sound, where as a $350 alpine and $300 alpine would show much less.
I'll second the Alpines mentioned. I don't think that much of the newer modelsthough. No Alpine bias here either, I roll with Eclipse.

Whats really going to hold back the sq would be the stock speakers. The aftermarket headunit will make them sound better to a point. The new pioneer units respond very well to the ipod. Especilly the new d3. But I got to give it to alpine. They did there homework great.

im a big fan of the alpine 9885... for 500 bucks get the alpine and a nice amp. 300 will get you the deck with the fullspeed ipod cable, another 400 (i know 700 total) will get you a pretty nice amp to do the actual work and power the speakers

I would agree with this statement before circuit city got thier grubby hands on eclipse, but not now, look at the build quality of a 2004 eclipse radio (pre-circuit) and a current one, no comparison.
as far as I-pod is concerned,
Pioneer premier deh-p590 (find a car audio specialist and get the premier, often times its cheaper than the best buy version cause it comes with the Ipod cord free)
or
Kenwood excelon kdc-x791 very nice GUI
