Audio on a budget...
OK, here's the deal, I wanna put a very basic system in my del Sol. I am thinking upgrades on all 4 speakers, a 10" sub, and two amps...maybe a new head unit since the one I have is an entry level Pioneer and I don't know if it is much good.
Anyways, any ideas on what I should get? I have about a grand to spend on this and I am going to have to get this installed by a shop.

i think you should get some mb quart reference series all around off ebay 100 rear coaxials, and front components like 130. and get 10 JL w3 or kicker solobaric l5. as for amps kickers pick up pretty good for the price. check out this site too http://www.ikesounds.com there's a bunch of shops in fl that give good prices.

Sony Xplod - Complete HU, Sub, 4 speakers, and amp + installation & tax should come under 1K.
Go to shops like Circurit City.
I had mine done two years ago.
Here was my review.

For that budget, you are crazy to try to run multiple amps and to replace all 4 speakers.
You could easily get a single 4 channel amp (b/t 50 and 75W per channel), one set of components for the doors, then a single subwoofer. That's all you need. If you already have a headunit that works, keep it. By getting a shop to install it, you are limiting your selection, but stick with that basic concept, and you will be just fine.
I've said this a thousand times YOU DON'T NEED REAR SPEAKERS...there, I got it out of my system....
If you really want them, run the stockers from the headunit, other then that, I wouldn't spend a dime on them - take the money you would have spent on them and use that toward a better set of front speakers.
Multiple amps are more expensive - not only do you have to purchase the second amp, but now you need more (and possibly thicker) power wire and distribution block(s), more grounds, more RCA's and you have to pay to have the second one installed and find a place to put it (last time I checked DelSols are tiny). Same goes for rear speakers....more wire, more installation cost.
You can always upgrade the headunit later if you want...
As for specific brands/models, there's too much out there to cover, go and talk to the various shops in your area and audition as much equipment as you can to help narrow down the choices.

Exactly what he said. Keep the head, get some fronts and a subwoofer and run them off one amplifier.

my recomendations come strictly infinity...well except for the amps and those are techniaclly infinity also because jbl and inifinity are the same company...
alpine HU 7995 or the newest current one
i dunno what your rear spakers are but a set of infinity reference's for there and a pair of infinity reference components for the front
2 infinity reference 12's int he trunk and a qlogic box w/ a jbl 600.1 amp
w/ a basic amp wiring setup you could run all the speakers off the deck and be alright but if you wanted to upgrade id recomend an alpine 4 ch amp.
overall you should be able to meet you budget if you install everything, its not that hard to do you just have to take you time and whatnot im sure plenty of people would be gald to help from ht on the install w/ tech ?'s and waht not. but from experience that complete system will be good enough for the basic sound guru
