Well in that case I have plenty. Does a xbox pull too much to have in your car?

Re: Anyone have any install questions? (nver2)

no you just gotta get a power inverter. it takes 12Vdc in and makes it 120V ac, so you can plug in your XBox http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

I have a 760w pioneer amp and 2 400w pionner subs. What gauge wire do I need and does a amp kit include everything I need. What is some decent brands?? I need any tips you can give. I know that you want to run the power wire seperate from the signal wires. I need some pics or links on a how to.. Thanks.

Re: Anyone have any install questions? (clutch33)

Good question. I also want to know what gauge wire should I use. Cause I have 4 gauge going through my car from my previous system. I have a Hifonics Brutus which can be brigded to 900 Watts RMS. I have 2 audiobahn 1200Q which are 700 RMS a piece. Would the 4 gauge wire be enough. Also how much should I put to each speaker.

thanks

My antenna on my 95 civic snapped off. I bought a replacement, and took the top part off the old one, but have no idea what the best way is to pull the old antenna wire slash pull thru the new one. Any suggestions??

I need a good inverter

Would this work and it looks like all I do is hook these up like jumper cables. Which I dont think would be that cool to be driving with that hooked up cause it may not stay in place. Anyone have any suggesstions. Or could I cut those off at the ends and hook them to the battery somehow?

I have a pioneer deh-p6600 cd player and I want to install a dvd player in the glove box and a 7" screen. Will I need a power inverter for the dvd player? Also how can I hook it up to the optional auxilary input on the cd player to get the sound on the dvd through all the car speakers?

Re: Anyone have any install questions? (clintwsi)

ok here's all the answers...sorry it took so long. first you should always run 4 gauge wire...its big enough for most applications up to about 1000 watts. but make sure its a real 4ga wire like rockford, monster cable, stinger, scosche....just good wire not cheesy crap. higher strand wire is useually better. and you don't really need to run the power and RCA's on oppisite sides of the car unless your running amps to speakers. w/subs it doesn't matter.(it saves time)

sony Q. most older sony's you have to have a special plug to use the aux in. on newer ones you have to go into the menu options and turn on the AUX in. its not to hard, you useually have to hold the menu button and then the menu options will come up. then use the left and right controls to scroll through the menu's. then when you find the AUX in make sure its on.. not all sony's are the same. if its newer tell me the model number, and i'll look at work tomorrow and see if we got it and i'll walk you through it.

if you haven't taken out the entenna yet tie a piece of wire onto the end of the ant and pull the ant out of the car then untie the wire and tie it onto the new one and pull it back through...it makes it a little easier. you might have to pull the car apart a lil to help guide it through.

With pioneer you need to buy a special piece that plugs into the changer control that makes it a rca input. there about 30 bucks. try pioneerelectronics.com

sorry if words are spelled wrong..i typed this pretty fast

Re: Anyone have any install questions? (CarAudioPro)

if your running one or more amps that are over 500 watts RMS you want to run a 4ga per amp. with power wire bigger is always better you just gotta make sure that it has a good connection to the amp.

I have an '02 Civic and was wondering if there was a site or something that might show me the correct way to take the stock radio out. Thanks in advance.

CarAudioPro 05-01-2004 11:29 PM

Re: Anyone have any install questions? (Spade2k)

if you pop out the little section where the cigar lighter is.....do it with a flat head screw driver theres 4 pop clips in it, 2 on each side..... there are 2 8mm screws holding in the dash where the radio is.

you have to pull the whole front dash piece off there are pop clips holding that in to....you can put your hands behind the brace where the screws are and pull it will unclip about half of the screws on the frind dash piece......or if you man enough, you can push the air vents down and put 4 of your fingers in the bottem part of the vents and then put your thumbs in the pocket below the radio, and pull like a mofo. don't be afraid, as long as you pulled the screws out of the bottem you won't break anything. the pop clips are a bitch if they haven't been off befor.

then once you get the front popped off you have to unlpug all the wire harnesess, then unscrew the heater controls, and take off the knobs, they just pull off. once the heater controls are off you can unscrew the radio.

leave the big metal bracket on the dash piese when you put it back together the screws screw into that and hold the frint dash piece on. you got one the hardest hondas......sorry dude

Re: Anyone have any install questions? (Spade2k)

My Question (Basic Install, I'm new to audio) :

I have a 1996 Honda Civic, and I want to put my Head-Unit. (Kenwood KDC-9017)

I took the old radio off (that worked just before I took it off), and figured with a multimeter and the wires diagram which wire is what. I'm pretty sure I got them right. (ACC 12V, Memory 12V, GND).
Every wires respond to the multimeter ... except the Memory (Constant) 12v.
I really dunno what it could be, I checked all the fuses and they are all good.

My question is what should I do?

p.s. the old radio worked!!! http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

Thanks a lot in advance!

Felix

i have a question,i installed a radio in my friends 02 si hatch first, when i was done he had no tailights or dashlights,so naturally it was a blown fuse, so i changed it and now theres one bulb out in the dash and the ac control/hazard buttons arent light up either any ideas?

green91 05-02-2004 05:35 PM

you should ALWAYS buy a harness to adapt into the oem harness.. it makes things go so much easier and you wont need the multimeter to guess wires! but if you insist on cutting your stock harness, go to http://www.the12volt.com and look your car up in the installer's wiring database for the correct colors.

CarAudioPro 05-02-2004 06:07 PM

Re: (green91)

yeah green 21 is right never cut the factory harness.

the 96 civic question: did you check the fuses under the dash and under the hood, cuz theres a radio backup fuse in the fuse box under the hood, and check all the fuses because theres more than just one fuse for the radio. just check em all to be safe. then if thats not it make sure you got the right wire. also opn the 96 civics if you have factory power door locks, its wired through the radio, but its a different plug. bigger white plug is the radio plug and the green plug is the factory keyless plug. also if you don't wire around the factory keyless plug your dome light won't come on when you open the door like its suppose to. let me know how it turns out. (if all else fails theres an extra power clip on the fuse box you can run a wire from) https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

02 civic question. first did you use a aftermaket harness or did you cut the wires? if you used a harness i dunno what you did. if you cut the wires it sounds like you might have used the dimmer, or the illumination switch as the ground. be careful when checking for ground becase the dimmer and the illumination will be ground when the lights are off and power when the lights are on.... if this doesn't help give me more details on what you did and i'll try to help. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

as for the 02

Re: Anyone have any install questions? (CarAudioPro)

COOL, okay here's my dillemma, my girlfriends deck got stolen, the dicks that stole it cut the stock connector leaving a mess of wires. I went and got the metra connector and hardwired that stock honda wires to the connector with butt connectors. I am 99% sure the wires I connected are right according to function, especially the constand and switch power wires and ground. but the deck doesn't even turn??? i checked the radio fuse and its not blown....what is a guy to do?? HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP..(by the way, its pretty cool that your doing this for ht members)

Re: (CarAudioPro)

i used an adapter plug and connected to both ilumination and dimmer wires i believe thats why i blew the fuse is it possible the bulbs blew??thanks again https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: Anyone have any install questions? (aNothA civiC)

Well, if the deck doesn't turn on and you have already checked the fuses. To make sure I would turn the key to ACC and go in with a test light, because if all the wires are hooked up correctly, you should at least get power. Also check the continuity of your ground just for grins.
