Default Anyone else excited in the Alpine Ipod Interface?

http://www.alpine-usa.com/prod...i.htm
The interface is compatible with any 04` Alpine Deck with Ai-Net
I'm 2/3rds there.
I got the deck for 199.99 shipped off ebay. Great deal its about 78 dollars off retail.
Anyway I can't wait for this interface to come out. Then I can throw away all my Mp3 CDs in my car.
The unit should look something like this

I went half way and just added ipod directly to my factory car stereo. It does not show all the track info on the factory stereo (since my display doesnt have words and stuff on it) but it does show track number and let me use my car stereos buttons and steering wheel controls....

Personally I think its a good way to go instead of FM

the iTrip is garbage. Any wireless fm modulated interface will have shitty reception unless its like right next to the radio. Even then its an iffy proposition. I cant wait untill the ipod interface comes out. I get first dibs on the first shipment to my work. I'll be back to write up a product review after i get it.

The iTrip setup isn't that bad at all. Its tuned digitally via 'songs' qued in the iTrip tuning playlist and I've yet to have a problem with it on any of my iPods. I've used it on the original iPod, the 3rd Gen and an iPod mini.

I made this post just to ask a quick question about your headunit. I noticed the box stated 'blue illumination', however like most older Alpines can you change this to green or amber?

I hardwired a dock to charge/pipe audio in my E36 M3 and looking to try out the Alpine setup on my E30 M3 but I don't want the ghey bling bling blue contrasting with the amber guages.

It just got released today! But too bad my local shops aren't gettting them for another month. What's up with that? Crutchfield says 15 days.

Interesting review here: http://playlistmag.com/reviews...-0904

I don't think I'll end up buying it. I'll just end up doing a custom dock/line level input setup like on my other car.

ya, i read the review. seems like its not all it was cracked up to be. it still seems perfectly fine for me since i dont really scroll through the songs (i just put it on shuffle and hit next). but right now ill just stick to my current setup with a cord and recharge the battery every few days

btw ebay has a seller and crutchifield is selling it too.

Hmm does anyone know if you can control the music through the ipod it self as well? Or only through the head unit?

Bah upon reading some reviews and doing some research this thing is not all cracked up as its suppose to be.
I will be doing this set up instead.

I purchased this ai-net to aux conversion wire
15$

and will purchase this to hook up my ipod to that aux wire.
30$

Total cost 45$, and I'll probably buy a car charger soon too. This way its a direct input to my speakers and I can control the music quickly via the ipod

Thats the setup I use... Only I used Radio Shack Splitter, which cost me $8... Ran it into my center console for my mp3 player hooked up to my alpine in my civic, and ran it through the ashtray for my girl's mp3 player to her Kenwood in her tracker.

We just published what I believe is the first actual review of the new Alpine KCA-420i iPod Interface:

http://playlistmag.com/reviews...x.php

Appropriately enough, it was installed in our Honda test vehicle

P.S. I found thse forums while doing a Google search to see if anyone else had installed the Alpine system in a Honda. I just happened to find this thread.

i run 4 rca jacks that turn into 1 headphone jack into my ipod. my sony deck doesnt recognize the ipod as a cd changer or anything so i just set the deck to a radio station and turn it all the way down and the ipod's sound plays louder and overlaps the radio. ghetto but works
