Default Amp problems. Any ideas?

So I'm not sure but I think my amp might be F'd. I was playing around with my subs seeing how far I could push them and of course I blew a fuse. I blew the fuse on the power wire. So i replace it. Obviously I'm still getting power to the amp but not the subs. I rechecked the fuse on the power wire and on the amp. All of them are fine. I checked the wiring from the deck and it's secure as well. Does anyone have any other ideas? If not I do have a 1 year "no questions asked" warranty. So I could return it. Before I do that i just want to make sure that the amp itself is the problem. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!

If you are getting proper power to the amp (check using a voltmeter) and have propper ground plus you are sure that the amp turn on wire is working and that all the fuses are good then it probably is an internal problem on the amp. Check th power, ground, amp turn on and fuses. Check the fuses with the ground feature on the voltmeter to make sure including the fuses on the amp. If all is good then return, replace and not repeat your last mistake. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I'll check with the voltmeter either tonight or tomorrow. The only other thing I can think of is it's in some kind of safe mode. Here's the links to my setup atm. The light on the amp does turn on but it stays red. I'll have to double check the p.connect wire running from the deck. I didn't have the time when I looked at it to rip out the dash to get to it. I was able to get up under the passenger side and I saw that the blue wire was still connected. I even gave it a little tug. Held up fine. I'm hoping this is the problem. But at worst all I need to do is return the amp. I guess it's just a good thing I'm no driving the civic until spring.

EDIT: I should mention that I have two Apline Type-R's in a sealed box.

Sounds like an Amp issue. Some do have that safe mode although I have no idea how to get it out of that mode.

Not an expert on amps, but the Crutchfield amp site, above, mentions safe mode and protection mode. Causes mentioned: Speaker output contacts ground, speaker wire short-circuits, unit malfunctions and DC is sent to speaker output. Don't know if this will help.

So I looked into the protect mode issue. I'll bet it's simply in protect mode. I'll have to try to mess with it tonight. Thanks for the info. I'll post up my results tonight or tomorrow.

How long had the system worked normally before you turned it up? Seems that if it was up and running for some time, then connections have been tested by use.

Might have done something to the cables going to the subs. Audio cables can get damaged from overload more easily than power cables though.

Well I checked everything out. I'm pretty sure it's the amp. I disconnected everything from the amp then checked all the wires. Everything is good. I checked my p.connect wire running from the deck. It's solid. So I hooked everything back up accept the subs. I tested one sub on each of the two channels and nothing. So it's probably the amp. I'm not sure exactly HOW it happened. I mean, I've blown plenty of fuses in my day and never had this kind of problem. So tomorrow I'm going to return it and get a new one. Hopefully it works. Oh and I should mention I did test it with a completely different sub in addition to my 2 Alpine Type-R's. Thanks for all the help everyone!

EDIT: And I've had the system since last September.

Did you get the amp from crutchfield, if so you can call for support.

Did you read the owners manual to see if you can get out of protection mode?

No I didn't get it from crutchfield. But the store I bought it from has the warranty on it. So I brought it in. They're gonna test it and try to fix it. If not I get a new one. And yes I read through the manual and went to the kenwood webite. I tried everything with no luck. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Hope everything works out man. If anything you get the new amp and if it immediately happens again you know your problem is not the amp lol. I'm sure though your amp is your problem and a replacement and you will be "jamin" again.

Yeah two Type-R's running off a 1800w(900w rms) amp is just sexy. I took it down to "the strip" around here over the summer and had women cruising in the back of their boyfriends trucks that were dancin lol. Needless to say their boyfriends weren't too happy. I live in a heavily populated redneck area so the few civic owners there are around here get shyt on, so to speak. I was told it'll be about a 2 week wait.....
