Amp Overheating
Here is my setup:
1 2500 Watt Bass Inferno Mono Block Amp
2 12' Kenwood Subwoofers
Anything else about the setup please ask.....
The Problem:
After running my amp for about an 1 hour, it went into Thermo Protection Mode. I accidently brushed my hand on the RCA Jacks that went into the Deck, and they were hot as a ****. So I touched the AMP, and it was hot as hell.
Now, I did some searching, and have come up with a 2 areas that might have caused the overheating, but looking for expert opinions as well.
1. I have the Amp cranked to max settings. Why? Because when I first put it in, it didn't seem like much of an improvement as far as deep bass sound when I first put it in. I have been told this could over work the Amp/Subs, but I would figure with my setup, a 2500 Watt Amp and 2 12' 1200 Watt Kenwoods, that it wouldn't be to much of a big issue.
2. I oringally ran a 1/0 Gauge wire for Ground and Power for the Amp, however, when it came time to hook it to the Amp, I didn't have a connector the fit the 1/0 Gauge Wire and the Terminal both. My Dad decided to take a 8 Gauge Wire, and wire it to the 1/0 Gauge Wire, and then run the 8 Gauge Wire to the Amp, since it could easily fit without a connector. I read that this is like trying to drink and thick milkshake with a small straw.
However, after running my Amp for 15 Minutes, it got hot, not enough to fo into protection mode, but it got hot. I touched all the wires, and non were hot, making me believe the main problem isn't the power and ground wire.
Any ideas?

This is how I have it wired in the Amp.
- + - +
The book showed to wire them like this
+ - - +
But I went by the marks on the Amp.
Yes seeing as you have a one channel amp, they need to be wired to that one channel. If you wire them in parallel, meaning both + of the speakers are connected to the + of the amp and the same with both negs to the neg of the amp that means you'll have a 2ohm load.
