Default Alpine Type-S components

I just ordered a set (front & rear) of Alpine type s component speakers for my 99 hatch. 6.5" in the front and 6x9 in the rear. Going to be running them off my Alpine deck, does anyone have this setup and do you think i should order a 4 ch. amp or will it be good how it is? Im not really a big audiophile but i would like a good sounding stereo.

I would recommend a good 4 channel amp (non-alpine) and some sound deadening in the doors to improve mid bass

I have nothing against alpine amps whatsoever, I've just found that alpine amps paired with alpine speakers tend to sound weak and lack any real midbass.

Do you have any sort of budget you're trying to work with?

If your not going to run a sub, then I would say yes, get an amp, the MRP-F450 would do the job nicely...

A JL Audio 300/4 would be even better...
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=437

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind...
1- The Alpine SPS-17C2 is an over-sized 6.5" speaker, it will not fit properly in the stock speaker locations, it is too deep, [2-13/32"] and mounting hole diameter is too big, [5-39/64"] stock is 2" and 5".
You can do a "make it work mod" or do it right and replace the plastic speaker mount with a custom MDF speaker housing, the custom MDF housing will make the speaker sound a whole lot better with better bass response, as mentioned Dynamating, [or the like] will improve SQ also.

2- Speakers in the rear, especially tweeters, will only mess up the sound stage and make proper imaging very difficult if not impossible, the fix for this is to use the rear speakers for mid-range/mid-bass only, disable the tweeters, wire the 6x9s in series, [for an 8 ohm load] and wire them to the bridged rear 2 channels of the amp.
Dynamating the whole rear deck will improve SQ and bass response by plugging up all the holes in the rear deck, MDF plates for the rear speakers will also improve bass.

How good your system sounds will depend a lot on the speaker install, do it properly and SQ and bass response will impress you, mickeymouse it, and SQ will suffer especially the bass. 94
