Default Alpine 9815 VS 9833

It is now between these two, and I need to make a choice

9815 on ebay, or brand new 9833 for $323 + shipping

Which should I get? I like both, but the 9815 has better looks, which performs better? I need to make a choice soon.

I dont really like the idea of getting a used receiver...

wow, i bought my 9815 brand new last year for $350 shipped... from an online retailer, not ebay. a quick search and i can't find it for under $400 new.

i love the 9815. it's powering two amps, one for the front comps and one for the subs, and i'm running the rears off the hu. it's easy to use once you figure it out, and it looks nice, too. if you can find it for a decent price, i'd reccommend it. it was top of the line for last year's model.

I beleive I'm correct in saying this - the 9833 allows you to have an aux input if you want to pipe in MP3's from say an Ipod or something.

I read on the sounddomain.com forums that the newer Alpines (9833, 9835) have stronger preouts than last year's models (9813, 9815), even though they are all rated at 4V.

My 9815 is great but its true about the weak preout, the front and rear are fine but the subwoofer is below 4V until you turn it up loud by which time the front and rears are already clipping.
The quick search for MP3's is great and it plays all my old scratched CD's that nothing else would play. The time alignment and eq is really easy to use and setup.

The other model may have all the things I just mentioned but I'll still put in the good word for the 9815

Nope, you are wrong. Everything from the 9801-9815 has an Aux input. You have to go into setup and turn AUX on, and it changes your pre-out to input. I don't really like this idea, because you can't use both at the same time. Unless you want to be gay and get a Y-splitter.

New HU = Add 20 to the last years model number

Yeah, or AI-net/m-net

But, if you are looking for just RCA input/output, that's what you need
