Default advice for a supa newbie

hey, what's up. i really don't know much about stereo, but let me tell you my situation. i bought my gsr used, and came w/ an old alpine head unit, i think 7825? im not sure. it also came w/ an amp the alpine 4/3/2 channel power MRV-F400.

ok, here it is, the bulb for the display part of the head unit burned, so i went ahead and bought a JVC LX-100. i know i should have bought a better head unit for the money, a friend gave me some bad advice. anyways, now i notice that all 4 of my speakers are blown, that rapsy sound when u turn up the bass.

anyways, now im looking to replace the speakers. i'm not really a big audio guy, and i don't really have the space for a sub. i use my car for almost anything, hauling people and other things. its the coupe btw.

so im looking for 6.5" speakers for my set up? im kinda in the college student budget ($100-$200), but i want decent stuff.

some people like the internet for shopping and some don't, but it's very easy to shop around and not have to go anywhere. go to http://www.sounddomain.com. it's the honda-tech of car audio sites. for the money, it's hard to beat memphis audio speakers. i compared them to alpines, clarions, and infinity reference series and none of them sounded as clear as the memphises. when i first started out, i bought a set of 6x9's for $70 at my local car audio shop. the others were around $100, go figure. if you can though, try to save up enough to buy bostons. they're in the next price range up but are well worth it. you probably can't afford cdt technoligies or diamond like me. good luck
