I just finished installing a computer in my Accord, and I thought I'd share.
Specs:
933 MHz P3 Dell
256 Meg of ram
WinXP home
10 gig HD (for now)
7 inch lowish resolution S-video LCD (for now)
Winamp + RoadRunner software
Audigy 2 ZS sound card
Wireless mini USB mouse
PS2 keyboard
Metal plate covered with textured vinyl

Brackets to hold the screen and boards

The computer fits perfectly in that spot. I'll need to get a darker and shorter strap. I need a quick release for the case, since it covers up the jack and the tools.

It's no different than a regular computer except for where it is installed.
I am curious about the mounting brackets for the lcd and how the boards behind it are set up/what they do. Looks good man, god job.

It takes about 15 seconds to go from hibernation to playing.
The LCD mounting brackets are just a piece of sheet metal bent to shape. The boards came with the LCD; the bottom one is a driver board, and the top one does the input selection and brightness/color control.

Why? Because it's easier and more functional than a head unit.
It's much easier to find songs I'm looking for. I can glance at the screen and see 10 songs at one time, versus seeing only 3 and having to constantly scroll thru the list and keep glancing at it. Another purpose is for GPS, which I didn't get to yet.

You may want to take a look at MP3Car.Com and their forum. I have a CarPC in my car as well, in my 3000GT VR-4 anyway. I'm about to get a 4-door Civic and do the same thing with it. What skin are you using?

Interesting...I never though of that... I can do the same thing with my clarion dvd deck and mp3's though they are all sorted into files and what not. But I can't check my email and what not....
Do you have internet on it? Like thru your cell or anything.

I've looked at MP3Car.com, and that's where I found the front end (Road Runner). I've made the skin myself; I only included the stuff I want/need, and not everything that the other skins came with.
I just got this thing running this past weekend, so I don't have anything on it yet (other than music).
