stealth 2-way alarm. Make sure the installer is competent and DOES NOT put the alarm module under the dash, underneath the steering column. That's too easy for thieves to defeat.

Thanks for replying. Which 2-way alarm would you recommend. I can afford up to $500 on that. Also what do I do about the door locks and the ignition key. The joyriders left behind a filed key that works on both door lock and ignition with very little effort. I guess I won't need that with the alarm. But it bugs me that is so easy to get in. At the very least it should fit the very definition of a break-in. Instead of letting themselves in with a key.

Btw. The original alarm on the car also came with a keyless entry. Which I thought weren't stock for older hondas. Both things were taken off at the dealership about a decade ago by the previous (and only) owner who claimed the alarm was acting up on him. I don't know what antenna it has. I can't find any record of 96 honda accords with keyless entry off factory

I also have an Accord as well and running an Excalibur 2-way/remote start alarm on mine. It's the EXCALIBUR AL-1870-3DB model. I installed the setup myself and all options work, including remote start and keyless entry. If you're not keen on wiring, let someone competent to do the work. The install isn't hard honestly. You just have to know which vehicle wire to connect to. Unlike USDM Accords, JDM Accords DO NOT have the 2-wire plug for the door locks (keyless entry). You will have to find the wires, in the large wire loom leading into the driver's door....above the underdash fuse block/box and connect to them, individually of course.

I wouldn't bother spending $500 on a stock accord. Just pull a fuse or unplug a connector. Nobody joyriding a Honda with a key is going to try to figure out why it's not starting.
