6x9 in a del sol?
Okay so my gf got me 6x9 for Christmas and I really wanna use them. I know that they are just 6.5's in the back but I was wondering if any one had put 6x9's in there? I have a 94 del sol si I have been looking at this site for some time now and this is my first post. Thanks for any help I have searched and found that people have done it but they really didn't tell how they did it.
Not subs they are kicker ks693 6x9's and I wanted to put them behind the seats where there are 6.5's. she got them online for a good deal and I don't wanna try and sell me on cl and not be able to get as good of speakers cuz I won't get as much money for them on there. I have tried calling all the places around me to see if I could trade me for 6.5 but no one does that so I'm gonna try and fab some thing up to put them where the 6.5's are. I have searched all over and a few people have done it but didn't say how they did it.
All you can do is replace the stock metal, [or plastic] speaker brackets with a custom 6x9 one made with MDF, it kind of depends if you have the physical room for those 6x9s.
Speaker installation is critical to how they will sound, if not installed properly they will sound like dodo, no matter how good the speaker may be. 94

Okay so I kinda had a idea as to how I wanted to do it and I just wanted to see what you guys had to say first. I'm not really sure how to explain it but here it goes. I just wanted to use MDF and make it fit to the speaker and then if I can put that right on the the bracket that's already there. I was thinking of doing it like this because I'm not sure if there will be enough depth for these speaker and this will give me some more room and even if I had to maybe put 2 pieces of MDF together. I'm not really to woryed about how it look right now I just want it to work the best it possibly can. I might later do something with fiberglass over the MDF to make it look good.
