6.5'' speaker installation

I just bought 2 pairs of Pioneer 220watt speakers, and a 1200 watt amp installation Kit, and lots of 12 guage wire. My car already has a alpine 200watt face deck installed. I wanted to know if I can just install the speakers with the 12 guage wire without an amp? Also if I do install an amp that is NOT powerful enough to power all four speakers...will it be a bad idea?? I need help asap

what amp are you using and what are you using it for? a sub?

if you just are using 4 speakers connected to the deck, i wouldn't worry about upgrading the wiring.
