Default 1995 civic

I've got a 95 civic dx. Did the dx models come w/ speakers in the rear? What size of speakers come in the doors are they 5.25 all the way around? or are they 6.50 6 1/2 in the doors and 5.25 in the rear?

They are defiantly standard 6.5" in the doors.
Is the 95 Civic, [hatch] the one that has the stock rear speaker locations just above the rear seat arm rests, [probably covered by a dummy trim panel in the DX]? 94

6.5" all the way around (front doors/ rear pannels) for EX at least.

if you have a hatch.

you need a rare rear speaker kit, or make your own...

if you do make your own, all you need are some bolts, and some mdf...

and a good cutting tool to cut the opening for the speaker in the rear interior quarter panel...

if you can find the rare rear speaker kit, then it is 5.25" in the rear and 6.5" in the front

pop on over to crutchfield.com and put your car in, see what they say on what size speakers you can run in the rear.

the stock wiring is already there, just look for it.

you do realize the front grills pop off right.? you can open your trunk and simply look and see if any speakers are in the deck, not to mention checking your rear view youll see speaker grills in the back deck, if it came with speakers. if your doors have plastic mounting cups it takes a 6.5 if the speaker is mounted straight to the metal( most dx's ive seen are) then you have 5.25. same for the rear if there is speakers, if there mounted to plastic mounts there 6.5, and to the metal is 5.25. heres pictures (looked up an ex) notice the ex speakers (6.5) have the plastic mounts, the other speakers shown have no mounts, they are the 5.25's.\

I have never seen a stock 95 Civic with stock speakers mounted directly to the metal door skin or on the rear deck of coup, the speakers shown are the 160mm "dual cone" CDM and the 6 1/2" "full-range" USDM, they are both 6.5" speakers, using the same 5" diameter mounting hole, 160mm = about 6.30"
All the 95 Civics I have done used standard 6.5" speakers, [front and rear] if there were no rear speakers there were no grills or speaker housings, [rear plastic spacer] although the rear speaker leads are run, always. 94

i dont know man, ive seen several in the states, and two of my friends have dx with the speakers straight to the metal. 5.25's. im not saying your not right, but thats usually the easiest way to call it, if it has plastis brackets or not. and like i said the link i listed was for an ex, so it should list out 6.5's. i think alot of the lower trims didnt even come with speakers, and that may also be the reason for not having mounting hardware.

If you have a DX, the car didn't come with rear speakers. The holes are there in the metal for them, and the wires too, but the rear deck cover will have to be cut to use them.

Thanks, guys I kinda figured that it came in stock trim w/o rear speakers but i didn't really know for sure... Yes it does mount to the metal. I thought maybe i could mount them w/o cutting the rear deck lid behind the rear seat but i guess i will have too anyways......... again thanks.......

So the DX came w/ stock 5.25 or 6 1/2?

Ok i bought some 5.25 speakers the other nite and they are too small for the rear. I could put 6.50 in the rear they fit fine. But since my car came w/o speakers in the rear my rear deck mold - the carpet peice behind your backseat- isn't cut out for speakers and i can't get the mold off of the carpet. I could cut a circle hole in the mold and mount the grills but they wouldn't line up rite b/c of the humps in the mold........ Has anyone ever installed a set of 6x9's in the rear? I'm thinking about doing it but i will have to cut some of the metal out to get them to fit..
