So i got a 94 vx hatch....
I picked up this 94 vx hatch in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago for $400. A little rusty but for that price I didn't mind. Had an epic adventure getting it home as I wanted to drive it but it had been sitting for a year and a half so the alternator had locked up. We made a second trip down to get the car with a spare alt and could not get the lower bolt out. After fighting with it for hr I said the hell with this we will just drive with out one and then switch the batterys around when it gets low (i took my daily 89 std hatch to get it) Anyhow we make it 2 blocks in down town Pittsburgh and when we stop to put gas in it it dies. We ended up having AAA tow the car home lol.
Haven't really done much to it yet. Had to change distributors as the one that was on it has a bad coil or icm and the car would break up when hot. I ended up taking us 2 days to get the old alt off. This involved a grinder and a BFH. Sad that i had to cut up the rare aluminum alt bracket but whatever haha. I have also put a high quality dual (lol) mp3 deck in it with sony speakers. The oldschool alpine deck and pioneer speakers where wore out. The dual deck is pretty nice for $40. It doesn't do cds but it has a sd slot and usb. I had to take the back 2 tires off as one has busted belts and vibrates really bad. The only other wheels i have that had good tires on are a set of 15" saturn alloys so the car looks really funny with the 13" vxs in front and 15"s in the rear.
There was NO exhaust on the car after the mani/cat dealy. Well there was what was left of a muffler. Me and my friend jim decided to build an exhaust for it from parts of the one that we made for my old LX sedan. The sedan had a DNX i think it is header on it that was modified to use a v8 style 3 bolt collector. I got the header for free from the junkyard because some one sawzalled off the cat from the car it was on and cut the flange off the header. The exhaust then goes into a collector style cherry bomb and then a bunch of random 2.5 in pipe to a ebay n1 style fart can. The flux core welds look awesome lolz. We had to shorten the rear section so it would fit the hatch and when we did we accidentally took too much out so the muffler ended up behind the bumper. This is a bad thing as it fills the car with fumes and smoke especially at high rpms.
TODAY I made a trip to summit racing in Akron since im less then an hr away. Needed to get some steering parts for my dads 88 mustang. So while i was down there I picked up a proper muffler for the vx. I know 2.5" is over kill for the little z1 but I have bigger plans once i get some money coming in.
Anyhow now that that is all up to present time and really long winded here is what everyone wants anyhow, pics of one well worn 94 vx. I am also posting some of my trip to summit and one of my dads 88 'stang vert just for s&g.
Oh and cant forget my plans for the car:
Swap out the z1. I have a z6 and a y7 here and a ex trans I am undeciede as to wich i want to put in it. I am thinking of just putting the y7 in so I can build the z6 for b00st.
Also need to get 2 13" tires so the car dont look like a donk in the back haha. There are also some minor interior annoyances i need to take care of. After all that comes body work and lots of it. I hate salt haha. Sorry for the text running long but like I said ive had the car for ~3wk so that is all from then till now.

Jim goes "there is somthing rattling under your car". I ended up being a muffler clamp that flew off going up 11 oops.

@ken9 Ya the antenna is fubar. Im probably going to remove it and get a block off. Rust sucks lol.
@sillyboi These cars don't fare well in the northeast. Road salt ownz them. This is the cleanest one i could find for a reasonable price.
@boxeocampeon Yea at this point I plan on ether a y7 or z6 swap as I have both of those sitting here. Sticking with the D for the time being, might do a f/h swap in the future though.
@hybrid24 I ment to take pics of some of the displays in the store but got so into looking around I forgot. My favorite part of the store is all the motors along the outside wall. They have display motors for most of the crate engines they sell. I am only ~45 min away from the store so I go quite often.

Looks like you got yourself some good work ahead. The pricing was pretty legit for a "running" hatch. cant go wrong with a hatch. But why would you go j or h series? just turbo d and dont have to worry about screwing up your chasis. or if you want to go all motor k series?
If want to multi quote.. Look on the right side on user name and look at "quote post" and beside it have "multi quote message." Good luck on the build..I felt like cutting those rust out...
Well for the 0 of you that care I started on my z6 swap Started unhooking everything yesterday and today my friend Jim came over to help me out. Good times where had by all :evil: Got some not so tasty adult beverages and went to town lol. Only casualties where a few broken bolts (damn rust) and a nice chunk of Jims finger that the grinder ate haha. Got the z6 and ex trans sitting pretty in the bay and it "runs" Just started it to see if it would fire over. Still running the vx ecu (i have the p28 just too lazy to swap it just for a test fire.) Still need to put the front mounts, shifter and axles in. Also need to put the p28 in and figure out the wiring issues. I tried to use the ex harness but no such luck lol. The vx cabin harness has an extra plug (02 and egr i assume) that has no mate on the z6 one. So an hr or 2 tomorrow and i should be golden. I have turbo plans in the works as soon as the z1 sells :yes:

Well that didn't last long. First long trip and the head gasket went on the z6
Shitty part is i need to take the car and get the vins looked at (out of state car) so i can tag it and my temps expire today. I used it to take some junk in to get the money for the tags and the thing died on the way to the dmv.

Well I haven't updated this since the z6 died. Now the car has a low mileage y7 in it. Car runs pretty much perfect now except for a few minor issues. I have a small oil leak as seen in one of the below pics. I am hoping its just the o-ring on the dizzy. Other issues include the headlights, which need aimed better as they hit the ground right in front of the car and the high beams don't work. The other day I put in a ex cluster and old ebay style short ram intake. So the temporary N/A setup includes:

whats interesting is the old cluster had an up-shift arrow that was always on with the p06 and now the cruse light is always on with the ex cluster. My car doesn't have cruse lol.
