SHG_Felliphe's EG Hatch Build Thread
I just received a Honda parts order on Friday and I need to install those things. I'll post an update later tonight. Just a lot of misc things that have to be done so its not even worth listing. On Thursday I'm raising it and aligning for the meantime until I get the Weds on. One big job that I have to tackle soon after the bodywork is the rear main seal and that won't be a lot of fun but it will be a learning experience nonetheless.
looks awesome. I am trying to decide on wheels now :p tired of my j speeds and since im redoing my suspension/bushings and brakes i figured i would change things up...you guys having the SHG meet in ny this year?
Will feel even better. Brrrapppp.
Yeah hopefully I can do it quickly.
Eh no reason to change wheels if you don't need to. Focus on what's more important
Yes we will be having our meet. Just haven't planned it yet.
Update:
These are the parts I recently got:

2 qts of Honda MTF
Rear main seal (updated version)
Rear wiper blade
PCV valve
FPR vacuum hose
Steering yoke bolts
So I wasn't going to order the vacuum hose as it was rather expensive but then it ended up being ordered and turns out it wasn't a small piece but rather a few feet of it
If anyone would like a new piece of hose lmk. My FPR hose had a big hole in it causing my idle to be very low and near stalling. I also suspect this was keeping my engine from getting the proper fuel pressure as it has been lacking in power for some time.
I also went ahead and changed the PCV valve. It is pretty easy to check if its working. There's a few ways but what I did was simply pull it out with pliers and then shook it. I didn't hear any clicking so that tells me that it's bad and not functioning. It's only a $11 part so why not. It plays a big role in idle issues and overall performance. Very simple to change, it is under the injectors for reference.

Afterwards I adjusted the idle screw and went for a short drive. It is no longer wanting to stall so it seems to be fixed! Ill confirm tomorrow.

From a friend on HT/NWP.
Right man? Its still rather stock but it runs much better than it once did. Slowly but steady wins the race.

it is fun though.. it takes about 2 hours tops.. how do you feel your clutch is holding up? if you feel you might need to get it done, i would order up a clutch at the same time while we're there. i'd be down to take a trip n lend a hand for that homie.. i have lots of experience in that field :-/ lol
The fender was sitting slightly on tire at the current height but yeah they will fine nice with a little bit of camber and a slight raise. One of the reasons why I like 16s is the ability of having full fitment while having great ground clearance. In other words an issue free ride height and with no fender gap. Some TC105Ns will look killer on your ride!
I'm probably forgetting a few things but here's what I've been up to.
Update:
Bought new Hardrace upper control arm bushings so that they can go in with the new Buddy Club camber kit.

Took apart the ITR strut bar and refinished the mounts and polished the bar as much as I could. Not perfect but much better than how it was.

Also discovered a source of a vacuum leak, the EVAP purge solenoid had a broken tip which has been there ever since I got the car, but never realized it since its hidden. I've covered it up but still need to source one.

Replaced the drivers side axle (yet again)

Changed the oil and transmission fluid with new washers and Spoon magnetic drain plug set.

Right before leaving to Watkins Glen in NY, I wake up to realize that my car had been keyed all around the previous night. I was furious at first but there was nothing that I could do at that point and it was mostly just the clearcoat besides the hood which was actual paint. I'll need to buff the whole car and whatnot but it's a shame that random people will do that to someones car.

Got the EG ready and off I went to NY to help support SHG_EasyE in his track day.

It was a blast and a lot of fun. Once I got back, I picked up some paint supplies and removed the rear interior so that I could have my bodywork sorted.

Meanwhile I picked up some parts from Jeff (cranberry) since he was parting out his sedan. Function 7 lower control arms, ASR rear subframe brace and an optional OEM center console. Thanks Jeff!

Picked up some SEM Landau black and sprayed the center console and shifter console. This stuff is great.

Picked up the EG from the bodyshop, he did a pretty nice job! Now I just need to wetsand it and pick up new door hinges so they won't sag. Then it will look really good.

A couple of Sundays ago I went to the local Cars and Coffee meet, coverage of that is here . Be sure to have a look!
I've been trying to get my car ready in time for a track day with SCDA at New Jersey Motorsports Park (Lightning raceway) happening on Sept. 9th so hopefully I can get everything buttoned up but it won't be easy. There is a lot of work to be done and this week I am back in school.
As part of that, I've ordered ES shifter bushings (which I installed yesterday). Motul RBF600 brake fluid and Carbotech XP8 pads which are being shipped from the manufacturer therefore might not come in on time so I might have to go out on the Hawk HPS.

At some point I also took out the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) and it helped the idle stabilize a lot. Not perfect but much better.

I'll leave you guys with a shot while I was at WGI and a shot taken after the Cars and Coffee. I will update this as things progress. Crossing my fingers that I can get it done in time.

Everything's looking good man. That sucks to hear about the keying, but at least you got the issue resolved. Nice pick up on the shifter bushings too. I was really surprised how much of a difference they made when I installed mine.
Do you plan on leaving the rear stripped out?
What brand axles are you using that they keep going bad?
When are we gonna see the Weds mounted?!?
Keep up the good work. I look forward to a blog post or updates after New Jersey.

The shifter bushings did improve it a bit, was expecting a different feel since I have changed them in the past with OEM ones and that had gotten rid of the slop while in gear but with the OEM shifter I guess it just feels "loose" a little bit while in gear but the shifting itself is crispier and goes in the gears easier. For the money it's a great upgrade.
I just haven't had the time to put the interior back on but I got it mostly put back together last night. The road noise is not enjoyable at all with it, especially on winter tires. I am a fan of full interior always.
I'm just using Autozone remans, they aren't snapping but just start clicking once a year and I figured while I was at it to change it for the track. I will eventually get Raxles or just save for a swap. I would also like to do a clutch/flywheel but when you start looking at the investment, it isn't as worthwhile as a full swap for a little more.
Weds will be mounted Saturday

I'll be busy driving but definitely will get some photos and coverage. Just signed up for it
