Yeah I was struggling to have time and motivation to actually get anything done. When you work and go to school all week long and finally get a few hours where you don't have to be somewhere the last thing you want to do is work on your car out in the cold. So relaxing as much as I can helped plan thing out and stay on schedule! My plans exterior wise for this car is pretty subtle but nonetheless it will look a lot better in the future once I get to that point. I already did my mods outside and also inside. Then theres bodywork to "reset" to being dentless and then suspension and engine bay. After I visit those areas then I can revisit the exterior and get a few more things for it and make a few changes. The wheels for example are nice for now to have something decent to roll on for the mean time and to have as a nice spare set as a back up when I switch them for something nicer.

Nice looking machine!
Appreciate the nice comments! Really helps me stay motivated

Just take your time and do things in the right order and stay within budget and you will be fine!

Eh its cool. It was a good meet but a lot of the cars there were at MassTuning so you probably didn't miss much. Its quite a drive from where you guys are and not really worth it IMO. Plus there was a lot of D bags in bikes revving to the limiter in front of people which was quite annoying. On the other hand parking was only $1 so that was nice

We went out to eat mid meet just like at MassTuning but this time when we came back everyone had left haha. whoops...

Anyways, UConn meet tomorrow. Be on the lookout!

Congrats! Not sure if I'm going to the next one, we'll see.

Update:

The day that I installed my N1 I was in a rush since I had to be at work so my time was short and I finished it up just in time. However the old gasket was caked on there and I ended up not throwing my new gasket. It had been leaking a good bit and I finally got around to addressing that issue.

I thought it was going to be super hard to remove but with a little PB blaster, a flathead screwdriver and a hammer it broke it off little by little.

Now I had the opportunity to measure my B pipe width. It bottle necks like the N1 so the piping itself is 2'' but the flange is at 1.74'' (OEM). The gasket is a bit loose in there but it fits the N1 perfect. When I upgrade to a nicer B pipe it will be the right size but I'll still have to get a new one but now I know for sure it will be the EM1 donut gasket. So in hindsight I should of gone with a OEM donut but I didn't think it was the 1.74 but either way, not a big deal.

Nice and tight now!

While I was at it, I decided to also check the header/cat bolts and turns out that one bolt wasn't tightening or loosening so it seems that the threads are stripped even though its not visible with the nut being on it. Its leaking a little so I'll get a new bolt/nut sometime and cut the old one off (replaced them last year so not that old) and it will be leak free hopefully.

Took it for a spin and its nicer for sure, got some power back (or response as some of you like to call it haha) and it feels good and sounds better.

I knew one of you would say something. Seriously though, whenever I get rid of an exhaust leak it just feels so much better. It's def. noticeable and you can the car move with just a little tiny bit of gas. I don't care if it's making more power or not, but that's how I would describe it, so engine response might be the better description. Idles quieter and shifts a little nicer too.

Its all a placebo effect from the nicer sound without a leak, trust me. With the amount of back to back dyno testing weve done at Flatout there are very few aftermarket exhausts even that will net any gains over stock on a low hp car short of removing a catalytic converter.

Only was an exhaust leak will affect the way an engine runs is if its before the 02 sensor and is causing a false reading causing the car to run rich

hows an exhaust gasket make it shift better? you need to just say my car is breathing better again. that would be the better way to describe it.

Oh Felliphe, you knew I would say something because its true. You know how many hours I've spent on the dyno looking for 1-2HP. TRUST ME, fixing an exhaust leak its not going to change anything, at least not repeatable on a chassis dyno, MAYBE on a very high end engine dyno in a climate controlled room etc. Regardless, even if you made 2HP, you will not feel it. It sounds better so you feel better about it and how the car drives. Thats it.

Right, it probably isn't making an more power but I'm saying that's what it feels like driving. It breathes better and the response is better. Like I'll step a little and release and repeat and Everytime I get on it there's more of a kick to it compared to when I had the leak. So how would you describe that? Better exhaust flow? Lol idk!

When I shift the rpms don't plummet so quick or the improved response lets me feel the engine better so I can get better pedal control I think is what's happening.

You're getting a daily? Do tell

Right, I leaned this last time I fixed I leak lol. It feels like its 1hp better or something but you guys said it wasn't last time so I learned. Now I'm just saying that's what it feels like and I think only the response improved. Def not placebo though. Take it for a spin sometime and try to remember how it felt last time around. I remember when I installed my new header at FOM and didn't have the springs so I tightened it up fixed and omg it felt so good. Especially since the old header had a leak at the 4-2 and at the 2-1.

Thanks bro, it's a slow journey but it's getting there. I love the banner, some people don't like it though lol. They say it has nothing to do with the car and I think that's part of why it looks so good, it just pops!

Update:

UPS man gave me this package as I was walking in the house from school today

What the hell is it?

Yet another package that went odeee on the packing peanuts.

Brown bag? Must be a 40 ounce

Nop, its just Optimum Instant Detailer

I should of bought quick detailer 2 years ago but I just never got around to having the money for it as there was always something that I needed before but here I am. I went to Autozone but the prices were $10-12 for the Meguiars stuff and $7-9 online (shipping killed it). I was trying to compare which version to get and ended up finding out about the Optimum QD.

I knew they had a lot of good products like the Optimum No Rinse wash that I wanted to get for winter use (washing your car with only a bucket of water). Upon reading the reviews I was sold. This is what the pros use and why not give it a try. It has a really nice bubble gum smell too which is a nice addition.

But anyways, don't take my word for it being good, read the reviews for yourself! http://www.detailedimage.com/Optimum...-P286/Reviews/

One of the best websites to buy detailing products from is Autogeek.com, they have good prices and pretty much anything you could be looking for. I used the discount code "FREESHIP" and 5 days later it was here all for $9.99

I have to wash the car this weekend so I'll give it a try.

Wrd, take pics next time

I got the 17oz so that I have a bottle but whenever this stuff runs out I'll be getting the 32oz version which is concentrated and dilute it so that its more cost effective.

Update:

So for about a year now, I have been having issues with my Alpine KCE-433iV iPod/iPhone cable. It basically charges the device and allows you to browse your music library using the deck which makes it easy to navigate while driving or you can browse through the phone. The other bonus is that it has much better audio quality compared to using a regular 3.5mm aux cable.

It worked fine when I got it with my new deck but only a month or so later it started getting finicky. When I would connect my iPod, sometimes it wouldn't actually connect. Physically it would, but not electronically so it depending on how I had it it wouldn't work and I had to mess around with the cable until it was in a certain position that worked and not move it. Super annoying. It just got worse and worse and nowadays I can't even get it to work to save my life yet other times it just works :shrugs:

Now that I have an iPhone, its quite nice having Pandora as my main source of music (especially since I am jailbroken and have no ads and unlimited skips) and with that cable just being completely unreliable has driven me crazy enough.

So I went to Best Buy and got me another one (was on clearance for $12 woot woot!)

Another problem that this cable has is that its made for iPods and if you have an iPhone you will get a message pop up on your iPhone saying that the accessory is not compatible. It still works, but you just have to press ok and hit play again so its annoying. Anyways, I installed it and its working great, just plug it in and its good to go whichever position its in. The only issue is that it still gives me that annoying message (happens about 2 minutes after you have it plugged in). It only does it once after you connect the cable so its not like it keeps coming back.

I am working towards a complete fix for that but the workaround for now is a tweak that I downloaded that blocks that message from appearing. So when that message pops up I don't actually see it, but it still pauses the music so I still have to press play. Will do for now...

Since my deck also has Parrot bluetooth which is one of the best hands-free available. The only thing is that I don't like leaving my bluetooth on since it eats battery and turning it on every time I get in the car and off is too much work.

So I have a little tweak on my phone that brings up the Bluetooth menu when I connect it to the cable and I can just hit connect to the deck and its good to go. When I disconnect it, it brings up the menu again and I just turn it off. Its working well for now since I need to open Pandora and the phone is on my hands when entering or leaving.
