SHG_Felliphe's EG Hatch Build Thread

lol if breaking axles is your thing then heyyy! haha. Nah thats not a swap I would do at all lol but its fast for sure.
Torqueless wonder lol. I'm okay with my top end, its the torque that could use a bump. I like the idea of the B16, what I don't like is the price for one when it makes the same torque as my D16.
I know a guy that has a B16 for sale for dirt cheap. Maybe I should buy his before winter comes and start my swap parts fund which would be much shorter than a B18C5 fund haha. Now thats better planning.
Update live in 15 mins! Hold tight.

Pretty much, some of you might think my car is a nice hatch and I mean it is. Though its really not that serious, its just a clean body EG with basic suspension and stock motor with basic bolt ons. Nothing that anyone here can't get if they put in some time.

Pretty dope update tonight fellas, check back for the winz!

agreed sir, and since I'm stuck at work I'll be wait'n for tha updates! Lol

Hope I made the right choice, I love how this looks and sounds. The only question is how loud it will be.
haha. This is a Gen 2.
Quick ref guide:
Gen 1= Dull canister, 60mm all the way across to flange.
Gen 2= Polished canister, 60mm but pinches right before the flange.
Gen 3= Polished canister, 60mm but pinches right before the flange and has badge.
The reason why they have a pinch is because Spoon wanted to use OEM flanges so that they would bolt up fine and be easy to obtain. Its a small pinch, won't do much to hurt the power.
The exhaust will be fine not that loud really my b16 was fine with it not any problems when I daily drove the car. I took the silencer out the second day I owned it. Drove to MD in Jim hatch with the n1 and barely noticed
Yeah thats what I believe it will be like but a lot of people say its loud as heck. I think as long as youre driving normal there are no issues and its just a nice sweet note.
Yeah the pinch at the flange wont do anything to power... I like the idea of using the oem spring flanges, Honda put them there for a reason
cant f*ckin wait to see and hear that thing!!

Going to do a before and after vid for sure! I still gotta put in my Honda order that includes a gasket for the N1 and pickup some sandpaper to polish it up. I forget which numbers you told me? 800, 1000, 2000?
it looks pretty good already though?
That won't even put a dent into it lol. Theres no way it will happen anytime soon with a fund, funds are useful for certain things but not a huge purchase like that. Plus I want everything to be in top notch shape and squared away before I do a motor swap. Chassis and suspesnion needs to be up to par first

^ alot of truth in that right there. Having a savings saved my *** 2 winters ago when work was slow and got laid off for a few months. I could get alot of what I want for my car right now, but I keep my savings tucked away for when I really need them
you know trying to spread the pains us old folks have been thru to these younger guys is funny at points. i agree a 100% since he just started working again for how long cluad were you jobless? always good to have money in the bank, i out money aside for everything now.
.It has a few scuffs on the piping from mounting but other than that no dents or deep scratches. A polish should be able to take care of it.
Don't be its just a good quality axleback, its nothing too rare.

so your telling me saving money is pointless? your bushing wont even take that long. come now bro i have a kid and saving is the only way i can get anything im gonna need for boost. and im gonna be dropping 2x the amount of coin to have that all said and done then you will be on a itr swap. I'm just saying what would it really hurt you to start putting money away? nothing. **** happens and its always nice to be able to bounce back cause you have money saved ya mean.
Plus theres other things that need attention first, particularly the suspension. My savings fund will be for the suspension first and once its been refreshed the funds will go for the swap. The fund though will only be for those 2 things and whatever else I keep I will use for the other car stuff. A benjamin per paycheck is good progress towards a swap but a jackson at a time is too slow of progress haha.

Its been half polished so thats why it looks so good already. Some areas will need 800 but for the most part it looks like 1,500 and 2,000 will do the trick.
The original owner had it too close to his exhaustand some plastic melted on top of the exhaust on the tip and he used a scotch brite pad to remove it

Oh no thats not what I meant. It would just take an eternity at $20 a paycheck. I'm finally pretty much caught up with the majority of my bills and things I needed to get so after this wave of parts I'll go back to working on a bunch of mini projects while I save most of what I get. Once I am back at square 1 I can start saving again since I've been in the hole for so long.

Thats good planning though, responsible planning for that matter. Its what everyone should do, I just havent been able to since I was out of work for so long and was on the "savings" if you will.

Update:
Renewed my registration and bought a couple of pilot pens so that I can use the metal contact for the horn. Would of gone with OEM but theres no difference and it was like 24 bucks for the whole non srs horn contact piece. Probably the wrong part from the looks too so I just skipped on it. I also have to do an inspection by next week so hopefully will pass that.

And we have yet another big box

Packing peanuts wrd!

Uhh

Got this for a nice deal too and couldn't pass up on it. This used to be Rotten Egg's and since hes from Texas it sat in the sun a lot and the clearcoat has some oxidation. Its not too bad and can be restored to life with some TLC.
Has no cracks either, just some light scratches and some glue residue on a section underneath as seen above but essentially just what I was looking for
I try to scoop things up that need a little work and that way I can get them for a good price. My car for example had some flaws on it but I saw that if I just put in some work that it would be a nice stock EG to work with. Same as this duckbill, same as the N1 and many other things. I know a few people slept on this duckbill. It will be another year before another one will come around and I bet it will cost a good bit more than this did.
I threw it on but I'll have to wait till tomorrow to take some pictures when its not dark. It will be a few weeks before I take it off to refinish it but I got something in store
Its hard to save when I keep buying all this Spoon
