Default ShadowBar's first gen CL

Whatsup everybody..

So I finally decided to make a build thread. This is my First Honda/Acura, after an 89 mr2 sc, 00 sienna, 93 cs 90 q, 99 528i, 96 maxima and a 00 durango.

Needless to say, im in love with this car. so the story goes:

I sold my Audi late november of 08 and picked up a 1998 CL2.3 with 52k on the clock. It was a 5 speed and completely stock aside from a Sony xplod head unit.

the day i picked it up

it had the stock 5 spoke splits on it.. and unfortunatley i cant find any more pics from the day i got it.

from there I started small and swapped out the signals for some smoked ones along with an SRI. I also mounted up from snows for the terrible weather.

oh and it was cleaned two days before that picture...

Shortly after those two.. i swapped the speakers + system. i went with polk 6.5's in the doors and kicker 6x9's in the rear deck, two eclipse 12's and a kicker zx amp. during this time i also installed a rear view camera.
(no picture, sorry)

I also went with some ultra white's

i decided it was lacking something from the front end. so i refinished the grill full satin black and love it.

now it was finally starting to shape up more into what i was going for. got some new headers and a 2.5 cat back custom exhaust with a straight glass pack muffler. i love the way it sounds, although im yet to record the sound. lazy me.

So here it sits now. come the spring, ill be dropping it along with some 17's or 18's, a WW lip and either the WW type R spoiler or the OEM.

most recent picture

Mods:

Interior:
Polk Door speakers
Sony Xlpod head unit
Kicker deck speakers
Audiovox rearview camera

Exterior:
Smoked Signals
Satin Black Grill

Wheels:
(Summer) stock 5 spoke splits, falken 512's
(winter) Proline 15's on blizzaks

Performance:
Secret Weapon SRI
Stainless 4-2-1 headers
Custom Cat Back exhaust

To do list:
Lower. much.
plugs + wires
Flywheel wait reduction
17//18's
Tint

havent decided if I want to do an NA build or a turbo set up. sad that noone makes a supercharger set up for the F23.. that i know of at least?

Lemme know what yall think.

i would like to see a JDM H22A or boosted F23 in this cars future. theres a bunch of us NJ/NYC CL's around, we all chill together and ****.

blackhousing headlights would set this car off too.

yeahhh.. but more money I dont currently have haha.. I looked at the head light housing.. is there a way to disassemble it without completely f**king it up? ill paint it myself if you can, im crafty like that haha

ive been thinking about the boosted f23 route. its manifold is the perfect candidate for boost with its large plenum and long narrow runners. plus swap out the rods and pistons and the already forged crank... looking at 300 whp.

unless you think its cheaper to run an H22A swap? either way its very unique.

ive been looking for a meet//club for quite sometime.. nothing around morris county lol

I think my hardest decision is what color rims to go with... im torn between bronze/gold and gunmetal or black.

suggestions?

doing blackhousing headlights is very easy. ive done mine twice. the key is getting the silicone hot enough on the first try when you put the headlight in the oven.

whats great about the F22/3 is that it could safetly run low boost stock.

if you do everything yourself an H22 swap plus misc parts should run you $2300-2400. IF you decide to spend the extra money to get the motor from a JDM engine warehouse. if you pick up a USDM H22 off the streets it would be alot cheaper.

been a while since i posted here. figured id give an update..

Ive been busy doing lots of little things.. short throw shifter, eyelids, LED retro, dropped 2.3" on some springs, refinished my engine bay, lots of painting (refinished wheels, trim, grill, emblems)

here where im sitting now

in the market for a tasteful spoiler, bisimoto cam regrind, some wheels and spacers to get her sitting flush.. still a work in progress but a long ways from where i was.

well im debating it right now.. im thinking of going with a stage one seeing as im not FI nor a serious NA build. rumor has it it makes 1700 to 5800 a whole lot of fun and when the time comes to run FI i can either regrind the cam or just get a whole new one.

So an update and a picture. Ive got something ****ed up in my valvetrain, looks like the build is going to have to wait. got a nice little knock and a whole lot of ping. still investigating, thinking my fuel pump may be on its way out with the way my car cranks sometimes too.

anyways, here where i am before i stopped modding for the winter. have a lip due for the spring and added an oil psi gauge as well once my problems started happening.

thanks man, long time no talk. hows Azine doing? i was thinking of picking up a junkyard f23 and just rebuilding it from the bottom up with some forged parts + a bisi cam then eventually turboing it. would be about the same cost as an h22 would be and id have less down time from my dd when i went to actually swap the motor.
