Well my daily driver took a dump on me! my engine spun a bearing on the freeway.. Well I guess its time for a healthier engine unfortunately it wont be a B series. I just plan to get a good used JDM engine from HMO and swap it in. Im having a friend help me with the swap at his shop, since I recently re painted the car im going to have the engine bay re painted now while the engine is out so that everything matches. I had this car for almost 3 years I think and its ran like a champ. I picked it up real beet up with no climate control crapy interior check engine light but I got it for $1,200 and it is a 2000 spec DX original Taffeta white hatchback. I got it cleaned up with a new interior from a EX civic and found a climate control and now the car is clean and complete. It was consuming allot of oil so I already knew it was on its way just like my last civic hatch. I replaced that with a HMO swap too! ran real good. Heres some pics.

Too bad you're so far, I have a really healthy y8 with 196k I'm pulling out of my beater that I'll have no use for.
My daily was taffeta white but it was coming off of every panel. Do you happen to still need the climate controls?

Next plan for mods on the Integra will be rear trailer arm bushings and front tie rod replacement along with a new alignment.

I also would like to cover the passenger Recaro seat with another red cover from Ebay. Only thing is they are super expensive still lol I believe $120 but they are a good investment because the sun will fade the material even if you have tinted windows.

Icon5 Paint job question...

Well that just sucks but I'm glad to see that you have a back up plan for the new daily engine replacement. Just a quick question on your repaint, I'm currently looking for a guy/ shop to repaint my Del Sol in the OEM red ( or close enough red R81 paint code) here in SD, do you happen to know any reputable places that do a decent job for a decent price? Not show quality, just good daily driver quality..

Yea I was going to get a used engine local but man I just realized how shady buying car part is these days, I swear the engine I was going to go look at for $200 was either stolen or damaged the seller just seemed shady and for $200 I bet it was.. My dad got sold a T.V on the streets of New York and the T.V didn't work. Being a T.V Repair man he opened the back only to find the guts removed and a big rock stuffed in... So I was like F that ill take another swap from HMO.

Im at work right now ill come back and add to this about the paint job.

I would recommend the people who did my civic but they were not all that honest with me, I was going to take my car to TJ there's this guy who has good reviews and does real good work for cheap! he quoted me $600 for a 2 stage and quick turn around. But allot of people including me are iffy with taking it to T.J but he offers to meet you at the border near a Wal-Mart or something and can take the car in and back out when its done. I know he does good work cause he always posting his add in the JDM parts page and the work looks solid! I think T.J or this guy is your answer, if I had to do it over again I would of let him paint it in T.J. The price is right with him! or the other option Macco! I had my Red GSR painted there for like 900 I think wasn't that much and it was a real nice job they did, of course the prices have gone up since almost 10 years ago but they are legit and somewhat affordable! but I would just take it to the guy Oscar in T.J! here's his ADD,

Thanks for the info, I'm also kinda iffy about my car going over the border for paint. But if he does a great job and if it's less than $1000 ( was quoted that 2 weeks ago from Zooks/Earl Schiebs in National City), I might take the chance.

I too lost my best friend for the past 11 years 3 weeks ago, so I know exactly how you feel. Since that time I have not touched my project car either.

I will have to check my datalogs but when my redline was at around 8300 it made 8.5psi now at 7950 rpm it makes the 8.5psi which feels a little better as I step on it and get into boost. I kind of want to pull the pulley off and get it coated with Griptec its a coating they have micro welded to the pulley to eliminate belt slip, although I don't think the belt is slipping its worth a try. After this im over it going to move on so I can get close to trying to get it dyno tuned. I have some suspension things I want to get to then buy a COP kit and get tuned and call it a day.

I grabbed a smaller Gates belt and some belt spray and got the pulley on in about 20 mins.,

Here is the new pulley side by side, it looks much smaller but the next pic ill over lap them to show its not much of a smaller pulley.

Here you can see it on top of the old pulley,

Ok im back with a few good updates! so I noticed I had compressor surge from 3k to 3,500 rpm! I could hear the surge rushing out the blower fliter. So I inspected the vac line to my Procharger surge valve and found some interesting stuff. I guess a long time ago I think when I first got the kit I had a HKS BOV and it came with these vac line filters, well my dumb *** had 2 of them in between the vac line! and they were pretty much clogged! I replaced the fitting as well as the line and BOOM I freed up a bunch of power! now its making 10.2 PSI and I have not reached the redline I set at 7800 rpm, Im going to raise my Redline to 8,000 RPM because the blower is still safe at that RPM and im going to see what it makes at 8k rpm. But so far the car feels much more responsive! I reaaly like how it feels now! deff has the power it was lagging when I put the new custom 2.8" pulley! the whole time I didn't realize my vacume line was causing major boost leaks as well compressor surge!

Here is the old fitting and line and crappy filters I had on smh,

Here is the new line and fitting, I took a pic of my data log to show its making 10 psi now when before it was at 8 to 8.5psi

I also realized before when I put the new 2.8" pulley and better Gator brand belt I was testing how much boost it made and on this data log it made 8.5 psi @ 7,530 RPM with TPS at 92%!

Now its making 10.2 psi @ 7,716 RPM but TPS is only at 50% ! I know its going to make much more PSI at WOT! I guess I barely pushed the throttle at 50% and got it to make 10 psi so its got more in her for sure!!

Working on trying to source a OEM window cowl to replace my faded one! it looks so bad and really makes the car look old.

Well not much updates, I did drive the car today and man it feels and sounds so good! love driving it but that might change.. Tomorrow I go to trade my 2015 Jeep into my cousins dealership and we are looking to get a red 2019 Civic Type R for me well its a little more than the 2020 Civic SI I want but he has convinced me the CTR will be a better buy in the long run so ill see! one thing is for sure it will have to be a Red 2019 spec!

I love those Type R's! I wouldn't mind getting one. I know the Si is a lot cheaper but they don't look nearly as good.

Wow! Look at you moving up in the world! As for your possible trade in, why not just get the new 2020 CTR? Has a bunch of upgrades over the the 2019 and it will be worth it even more so...
