Default 97 Ek 4door Build

First off id like to introduce myself being my first post, i was/am a member of d-series.org. I purchased my project from a good friend who was getting rid of it because he bought a new car and couldnt keep both. It was mine for 800 bucks.

The cons -

destroyed headliner, power windows dont work, rear bumper had a huge piece missing, trunk had stock wing (imo i dont like it) and also had hole which cause water to leak in, ricer headlights very foggy (see pic), no ac.

there was other minor problems bent lca, minor crack in oil pan. etc etc.

The Pros - the car is for the most part stock which is a plus in my eyes. the car had originally a d16y7, previous owner before my friend blew the motor and replaced it with a jdm d15b. For some odd reason he put the y7 manifold on the d15b and ran the y7 computer. I found all this out on the previous forum.

My plans are to Remove the d15b and fully rebuild it but keep it stock (new seals rings gaskets etc.)

I bought a complete y8 intake manifold to replace the y7. 40 bucks =]

Im not gonna worry about even putting this on until im rebuilding the motor. Once its rebuilt im going to slap a turbo on it and tune it on low boost. i just wanna enjoy the car for some time before i build a serious swap. (Bseries)

This is my first project that is actually coming together (previous 2 were too far gone lol)

Once the motor is out, Suspension, Brake, and Body and Paint (maybe dip) is planned. Those things are needed regardless of motor.

I want to update this thread throughout the process of my build for assistance and to see how it all comes together.

Here's some pics of what ive done so far..

Redid the headline myself $31.78 at Joanns fabrics for the spray adhesive and headliner material. the PITA is putting it back in.

this is the old trunk with the stock wing. You can also see the piece missing of the bumper

picked up a stock trunk MINT with no wing and rear bumper with some wierd lip. i kinda like it, but will still be getting a new front and rear matching lip. (front has no lip.) $80.00 for both

also got some used oem headlights the driver side was a little foggy so i cleaned it up. grill is new as well because the old one had a crack. (see pic above).

this is what the inside of the trunk looked like once i finished scrubbing it with a metal brush. most of the rust came off and i vacuumed it out.

Then sprayed the trunk with a black rubber undercoat to resist the rust. i think it looks pretty good didnt come out perfect though.

Thats about it for now. Im looking for some si wheels or gsr blades to replace these ugly 17in wheels. Hopefully i cant get my hands on some soon and then just rebuild the motor =]

Minor interior or exterior updates will be posted up as well.

The hard part is keeping it on there and making sure the adhesive is strong enough.

Nice platform to build.

Check the inside of the rear lip, looks like a VTI-S lip. That was a option on European civic's.
Not sure about it tho because can't see it very clear on the pics.

As long as you spray the adhesive evenly, wait about 5 mins for it to dry a little then smoothly lay the material down you shouldnt have a problem ill post the link to the exact video i followed

looking good so far. you sure just a d series rebuild is all you want to do? a b series is just as much work and maybe $150 more. I just swapped a b20 into my 96 sedan, it looks just like yours other than a few "upgrades". I tried my headliner with fabric from wal mart before, I guess I'll just have to try again...getting that thing out is such a pain in the ***...

I'm jealous of that spoiler...

^^
How much is dumb cheap? And from where?

I know the shops around Broward and Miami and know how much a B20 costs.

If this is coming from a craigslist ad, then its either on its way out or stolen. B20s stay around a certain price.
