Well shes at the body shop, but that doesnt stop me from lurking around for the specific parts that I want for her. So today scored a beautiful set of 06 Kouki (Type R) Taillights from jdmflorida.com
Theres just something about these that just makes people look lol
Compare to the pale usdm look, Id pick kouki 1000 times.
Heres a before picture, you can see how much poke those 285s had on her oem body
And here after pull etc, cardboard is there cause they were showing me the idea of what they had planned for her, and I can honestly say I am really satisfied with the results so far.
Also went ahead and bought the AEM 320lph e85 compatible, since she has an oem fuel pump which might be bad from all that time without being started. And since the Grams 1000cc injectors were too short, bought a set of extensions from O&J Performance.
Wont your turning radius be reduced with 17x10 wheels running a 285/40/17 tire? How do you plan to avoid scrubbing your inner wheel well when pulling into a driveway?

Well the offset of the wheels is +15 so that gives me quite some space, Im also running a 7mm spacer in the front, and the only issue we ran into when turning was the tire rubbing with the fender. When fenders were removed there was no issue at all. 😁

Well of course without fenders on you wouldn't have turning issues.
The build looks pretty extreme and you have a lot put into it so far. Subscribing to see the final outcome.

Haha true, but the whole body is getting modified to fit the 285s, rear end is practically done, so as soon as the front gets done Ill post pics so you can see the difference
Updates on the widebody, rear end is 90% done. Still needs a bit of perfecting but it came out exactly as I wanted it to. Just a few more weeks for final body results!
Metal sheet to mold the widebody, cause I wanted as least bondo as possible since it can crack etc.
Fully welded and shaved
Outline done with bondo and shaved as much as possible
Received some pics from the body shop today, I must say. These guys are amazingly good at what they do. Anyone close to Fl, or anyone at all that would be interested in bodywork, or paint let me know Id recommend em 100 times.
Also! Scored a sweet set of Dc5R Brembos, been on the look for these for a long time, and My good friend Jean from JDM Express hit me up as soon as he got his hands on em. Big thanks to him!
Phewww! Whats up guys? A whole year of neglecting my build thread, but I will give you guys a rundown of what happened this year..
First where we left of.. As you can see above last updates were sometime during Paint/BodyWork. Actually, that widebody in the pictures was never finished. The Shop who started the first version of the widebody failed misserably after assuring they were prepared for o job of such nature. Like they had done 100 other jobs before that, lol.. Anyways, after almost 3 months with the car they finally finished what was supposed to be the quarterpanels... Horrible horrible work.
After arguing about how bad the work was, all they said was take it somewhere else instead of being reasonable. Litteraly had to take it elsewhere. Werent even reasonable enough to give me my deposit back, kept telling me to get a lawyer if I wanted my money back, and well Im not a court type of person so I let it slide and took that loss. I believe in Karma.
Then spoke to a good friend Kelvin Cordero and his Dad Benny Cordero who made it all happen on the first try.
Drop Off Day at the Cordero Built Shop. Just look at that quarterpanel 😂 They litteraly had to remove all the bondo put on there by the previous shop, and re-make the wide panel, while making sure the bumper meets where it should. Better example here.. Much much better.
Afterwards came the fenders, which I was trully amazed by. They actually extended the bumper out to meet with the fender like PB & J. Sorry for the low quality pics, I got these from one of the guys at the shop. Then it all started taking shape, and I knew I was in the right hands. Then I get these pictures from my boy. Imagine that feeling of seeing what you imagined come to life. Widebidy was looking amazing already. Then paint stage started, it all felt downhill from there... Shell was fully painted and ready to come out!! Actually, also ended up Molding the rear bumper and the Mugen lip into a 1 piece bumper. Also, outstanding work by the Cordero team. Then pick up day came shook Mr. Corderos hand, thanked him for the amazing work on the car and right back to the Xul Performance shop to finish it up. Also Shoutout to Angel Carrion for the tow.
That concludes the Paint/BodyWork stage, which took about 7 of months of this year.. 😂
Once back at the shop, we took a thousand Ls with the car. All from Wiring issues, to parts breaking. What a ride... Heres the rundown.
Once back at the shop first step was to put all glass back to prevent more dirt to pile up inside the car from sitting at the shop. Shoutout to HCC AutoGlass for the hookup. God was she looking great. Now that I think about it, I should have kept that Wrinkle Red Type R valve cover.. Work work and work. Finishing up Fuel Set up along with some lines for the clutch. Catch Xul being Xul. 😂 After that, sent the wheels out for powdercoat, and tires to a friend to get freshened up and cleaned. They had so much overspray on em. Then WIRING came. ._.
This was probably the worst part to have to deal with. But after hours and hours of swapping the wiring everything was working the way it was meant to be. While we were busting our heads outting the car back together A&G Coatings came in clutch with the wheel job. Flawless work. Guaranteed. Wasted 0 time and got those tires mounted, all that was left was basic stuff like Coolant, oil change, tranny fluid etc. Start up day was close. Making sure everything was right, tight, and alright. Before test driving. Drove her straight to Action Tires in Kissimmee for an alignment and wheel balance. Drove perfect, like it was never taken apart. Then Kelvin Cordero came by the shop and got her wetsanded and buffed, ready for HondaFest Orlando which was a few weeks away. We made it to hondafest, and took home Top 30 Best of Show. Not bad for a comeback. Afterwards attended HIN Tampa, and took home 1st Place Best Acura. Few weeks later, got my brembos back from being brought back to life and to this date I still havent put em on.. lol
and thats that for today. A lot has changed these past weeks, ill be posting updates later on. Hope you enjoyed.
Not really a fan of these type of builds but amazing work in the end. Should have gone to your friend in the first place, could have been done quicker lol
