The cranks have been researched, developed and tested in-house.
The Factory Honda crank forging has proven to be quite strong.

I believe this to be a superior design to anything available anywhere, in a factory forging.
This is not merely spun on a lathe and "knife-edged".
The weight is strategically removed in a way that retains the torsional stiffness, while maximizing weight reduction and substantially decreasing windage losses.
Zero deflection is experienced during the process.
The Cranks are professionally balanced to ~0.5g
Oiling holes are tear dropped chamfered for superior oiling properties.
As an example, the H22 series cranks we have taken from 40 lbs to 33.5 lbs, or metric 18.0 kg to 15.2 kg.
This makes a HUGE difference in Acceleration !
Offset grinding and big radius rod journals available.
Ion PLasma Gas Nitriding also available.

looks very nice.

Any reason you didn't remove material from the whole counterweights vs just the edges?

Seems the rough texture would incourage oil sticking to it.

where'd the other post go?

What is the benefit of Ion PLasma Gas Nitriding? Does this increase the torsional stiffness of the crank?

Blah, I've seen these cranks at K-mart, lol

how much weight was removed from the crank shown. are there some cranks that this works better with (as in motor type)?

looks good man....here is a thought to.the f23 crank is 4-5lbs lighter stock untouched than the h22 crank.....what can you do w/the f23.do you think you could get the rotating mass down to that of a gsr crank.

but 7-11 has better prices on thses cranks then k-mart

i would like to add this. the reason why i am build a all motor h22 is because of the videos i saw for your h22 or should i say h27.

Such as the chamfering of the oil holes, the rounding of the trailing end of the counterweights and not just knife edging it.

The oiling holes go through a number of other process before being finished.
here are a couple pics of of a crank having been gone through some rod journal work, finishing processes and the nitriding process.
distortion free nitriding process, surface hardening process and provides more wear resistance.
takes on the stealth look....lol....hiding the bling bling though lol.

6.6 lbs off this crank.

"most" honda forged cranks can be processed.

I do not bother with the factory pre 1999 h23 crank from the h23a engine.....its weaknesses have proven to be not so good a candidate.
Some of the JDM H23A vtec 1999-2001 cranks I believe are as robust as the h22 cranks.
I believe those can be brought in from Japan at around $700 each,new.
that is the crank to use for a stroker H series, offsetting to 98mm.
Billet cranks being the most expensive other option, obviously.
