I also contacted Skunk2Brian, and this is what he emailed me:

"Joe gave you good information.

We are transitioning away from the hand etched markings on our camshafts and moving towards a stamp system.

“M” is the correct stamp for B Pro Stage 2 camshafts. Old Pro 2 etchings would include P2, P2+,P2V.

From this point on all B pro Stage 2 camshafts will have M stamped in the end of each of the camshafts. If you are looking at purchasing older camshafts please feel free to send me any pictures of the etchings and I will do what I can to identify them for you.

You can be 100% confident that the camshafts you have are authentic."

I may add, the tech support has been on it with fast response.

I've ordered from JHP many times, and besides the occasional out of stock item, I've had good experiences with them. I would have no doubt that any item you buy from them is authentic.

i have a steel stamp kit and could more easily just smack a M into the end of the cam then i could a P2....^^^^ this is a load of crap.

using one of the hand held etchers would be much harder then just standing the cam up on end and smacking a steel stamp to put a M into the end of the cam.

I'm just glad my set is real. As for this new method being a load of crap, perhaps you should call them and discuss a better method? Or ask about other ways to identify them?

the only true way to be able to tell if the cams that came from skunk2 were real is if every single cam had its own unique serial number stamped into it...skunk2 would need to keep a database of all these serial numbers and have people register the cams when they purchased them for this to be able to work.

They make the cams, they are one of the tops of the industry, how can they not know what they are talking about? Because someone got a letter upside down? BFD.

OP if you are really that concerned about it after this thread, I'm sure S2 themselves would gladly measure them for you at a minimal charge. That is what I would suggest.

Yeah man, I wasn't concerned after I spoke to 2 reps through email and 1 on the phone. I am confident they are the real deal, its just I didn't know how to respond to the person who responded before you, so I just said "Thanks" Lol.

one of the reps said as long as there is no cracks and chips its fine and those markings are normal.
like what ALL M0T0R said:

its just the coating, they most likely held the cams up in between the lobes to dry after coating them.

Oh yeah, TheShodan informed me that his Pro1's he purchased has "X" stamped on the ends of his camshafts.

Measure the cam for lift and duration. Compare that with published specifications.
